They were all still debating whether to head over and look for Noelle when–out of nowhere she reappeared, walking back with Robin himself.
Everyone froze. Eyes widened. For a split second, they genuinely wondered if they were hallucinating.
Eleanor rubbed her eyes hard. “Quinna… am I seeing things? That’s Mr. Werner, right? Why does he look like a student following a professor around when he’s with Noelle?”
Quinna pushed her glasses back up her nose, confusion written all over her face. “Based on Mr. Werner’s attitude model from this morning, the probability of this scenario occurring is below 0.1 percent… This defies logic.”
Not just illogical–completely absurd.
The other students noticed too, all staring blankly as the pair approached.
Noelle walked ahead at an easy, unhurried pace. Robin stayed half a step behind, posture slightly bent, listening intently, nodding now and then. The expression on his face… No matter how you looked at it, it screamed earnest consultation.
What happened to “I can’t teach her“? What about “she should find someone more capable“? And that whole “furious at her lack of ambition” thing?
The vibe was totally off.
“Noelle !” Eleanor couldn’t help herself. She rushed over, eyes darting between Noelle and Robin. “You … you two-”
Only then did Robin seem to remember that students existed. He straightened quickly, cleared his throat, and put his usual stern mask back on–though the excitement in his eyes hadn’t fully faded. “The thing is, Ms. Kain assisted the hospital with a few academic matters just now. Her performance was… outstanding.”
That explanation explained nothing.
All eyes turned to Noelle.
She smiled lightly, her gaze clear and calm–and said nothing.
That somehow made it worse. Their curiosity burned so fiercely it was practically painful. What on earth had happened to make Robin flip like that?
“Noelle, I’m begging you. Just tell me–what did you do? Mr. Werner changed completely! You know he even messaged the school this afternoon saying he wasn’t taking you anymore!”
When the consult wrapped and they headed out, Eleanor pestered her, anxious.
“Hm.” Noelle smiled faintly. “Probably because my personal charm is just too powerful. Mr. Werner surrendered to me. He probably worships me.”
Eleanor was speechless.
Her mouth twitched.
“Noelle. You honestly believe that?”

“I’m just stating facts.”
Noelle shrugged, clearly unconcerned. If they didn’t believe her, that wasn’t her problem
“Go back to school later. My husband’s picking me up. We’re having a candlelight dinner tonight.”

Eleanor ground her teeth. “You’re unbelievable: Not only do you refuse to explain anything. But you’re also ditching us for a marc
“I’m not talking to you anymore!
Noelle smiled sweetly. “Did you like the cake we had in the RV today? I’ll bring you more tomorrow–different flavors
Eleanor’s eyes lit up instantly.
“Noelle, I take it back. Your charisma really is overwhelming. I’ve been conquered.”
She said it with complete seriousness.
Noelle didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Right on cue, Sebastian arrived. Noelle headed over to him.
His car was parked by the roadside. He leaned against the door, tall and composed, long legs catching the light.
Noelle beamed. “Honey!”
She spread her arms and strode toward him. Sebastian naturally wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her close, while! other hand opened the passenger door in one smooth motion.
“Get in.”
His voice was low, brushing past her ear.
Sebastian glanced at the rearview mirror and spotted Eleanor and Quinna still lingering by the hospital entrance. “Do your roommates need a ride back to school?”
“No.” Noelle shook her head. “They’ll manage.”
Then, she paused, remembering something. “Oh–by the way, Quinna really liked the sleep mask in the RV. Than
Sebastian’s lips curved slightly. “And you?”
“I loved everything you arranged. There’s just one downside.”
He looked at her sideways. “What is it? I can fix it.”
“I’m used to sleeping with you now. I can’t fall asleep unless I’m holding that–soft but firm. You weren’t there at noon today, and i barely slept. My hands felt restless the whole time.”
Sebastian was at a loss for words.
What exactly was his wife saying in broad daylight?
They headed to Summit House, where Lucas had already arranged a full table of dishes.

Inside the private room, Lucas was on the phone with Ronald..
“You little bastard. You’re back in Kingstowne, and you still won’t visit your father? It’s his 50th birthday this Sunday. You have to show up.”
Lucas replied coolly, an edge of unfamiliar detachment in his tone. “Grandpa, I already said I’m not going. Don’t waste your breath.”
Ronald’s voice came through full of breath but edged with fatigue. “Brat! That’s your father! His 50th–your absence will be a disgrace! I know there’s bad blood, but-”
“Grandpa,” Lucas cut in, rubbing his temples, “what’s between him and me isn’t something you can sum up as ‘bad blood. You focus on the herbal shop in Riverdale. I’ll come see you whenever I can.”
As he spoke, Sebastian and Noelle pushed the door open. Lucas looked up–and for the first time that evening, his sour expression finally eased.
