Chapter 302 A Check Torn to Pieces
But Alina kept her head down, lost in her own thoughts, completely missing Viola’s desperate signals.
Viola’s anxiety ratcheted up another notch..
Half an hour later, Noelle arrived without hurry.
420 Free Colins
Mary had been pacing restlessly. The moment she saw a slender, masked young woman step through the doorway, she stopped short, her gaze slicing over like a blade.
Noelle stepped inside. Her calm gaze swept over Mary and Alina before landing finally on Viola, who was watching her from behind the glass partition with a mix of venomous hope and bitter hatred..
Sebastian and Lucas followed her in. Lucas, bringing up the rear, leaned back lazily to shut the door.
He positioned himself slightly behind and to Noelle’s right, a posture of unmistakable support. His hunter’s eyes swept over Viola and the others, but when they landed on Mary, he froze in shock.
“Hold on… What…?”
Lucas stared, visibly stunned.
Why does this woman look so much like Noelle?
He quickly glanced at Noelle and Sebastian. Both of them looked perfectly composed, as if this were completely normal.
It made him feel like he was overreacting.
Lucas couldn’t wrap his head around it. Noelle didn’t have a generic face, so how on earth could Mary resemble her this closely?
Seeing the mask securely covering Noelle’s features, Viola finally allowed herself a shaky breath of relief.
Alina’s dark, unreadable gaze stayed fixed on Noelle, her thoughts impossible to discern.
“You went to such dramatic lengths to summon me here, Mrs. Guzman. What is it you want?” Noelle said, her voice slightly muffled by the fabric as she looked at the woman who shared her bone structure.
Mary’s expression hardened instantly. Every memory of Noelle tormenting Viola sharpened her tone. “I won’t waste words with you. Withdraw the charges immediately. Tell the police this was all a misunderstanding, that Charlotte’s innocent. And then issue a public apology to her.”
Noelle let out a soft, derisive laugh. “And if I refuse?”
“You refuse?” Mary uttered the words as if they were a profound joke. She looked Noelle up and down, her expression dripping with condescension. “Who do you think you are? You get a few good grades and suddenly you think you can bully my daughter, slander her, drag her to court? Do you have any idea the power the Guzman name holds? We could ruin you with a snap of our fingers. You’d never recover.”
