“Sebastian! Look! Theodore’s been saved! He’s fine! He’s fine!” Royce crawled forward without any dignity, his voice warped by panic and desperation. “We were confused for a moment! For Theodore’s sake, and for Ethan’s sake, please. Please spare us! We swear we’ll leave Kingstowne immediately and never come back!”

Olivia sobbed as well. “Yes, Sebastian! We’re still your elders, after all! Ethan, Ethan, say something for us! We’re your uncle and aunt!”

Tarquin was crying so hard his face was a mess. “Sebastian! I was wrong! I really know I was wrong! I’ll never dare do this againt Please spare me! Spare our family!”

They believed that as long as Theodore was alive, Sebastian’s rage would ease, and they might still escape punishment.

Sebastian slowly turned around. He looked down at them from above. There was no warmth in his eyes, only cold disgust.

“A pipe dream.”

He said the words quietly, but they struck the three Hernandezes hard.

“Take them away.”

Sebastian didn’t look at them again. He instructed Primo, “Find somewhere to lock them up. We’ll decide what to do with them after Theodore wakes up.”

“Yes, Mr. Menzie.” Primo responded at once. With a wave of his hand, several men stepped forward and dragged the crying, begging Royce, Olivia, and Tarquin away like dead weight, shoving them into a vehicle.

Once the Hernandezes were dealt with, Sebastian walked back to Noelle. Seeing how pale she was, the violent edge in his eyes softened, replaced by concern. He bent down and lifted her straight into his arms. “Noey, I’ll take you to rest.”

“Okay.”

Noelle leaned against his chest. She was completely exhausted, not just physically, but mentally as well.

Sebastian carried her toward the room. When they reached Ethan, Noelle asked him to stop. She took out a small bottle of medicine and handed it to Ethan.

“This is for you.”

Ethan lifted his pale face to look at her, clearly stunned.

“They injected you with drugs. If you don’t clear them out in time, they’ll affect your health later. Take one pill. It’ll flush the toxins.”

Ethan pressed his lips together, then finally reached out and took it.

Noelle was truly spent. After handing him the medicine, she rested her head against Sebastian’s chest and closed her eyes.

Sebastian brought Noelle to his old room.

After he left, no one had lived there. The furnishings and layout hadn’t changed at all, yet there wasn’t a speck of dust. It was clear someone cleaned it every day.

Sebastian’s gaze darkened slightly as he laid Noelle on the bed.

The bed was small, only about four and a half feet wide. After all, when he left, he’d only been ten years old.

“Honey, I’m going to sleep for a bit. If anything happens with Grandpa, wake me up.”

“Okay,” Sebastian replied gently, kissing her forehead.

Noelle fell asleep quickly. After making sure she was fully asleep, Sebastian stood up, moved quietly out of the room, and closed the door behind him.

Outside, Primo and Duo had been waiting for a while. Neither of them looked good.

“Mr. Menzie,” Primo said in a low voice as he handed over a tablet, “you’re trending. Someone nearby used a drone to film us. The footage is distant, but the scale was too big. People recognized it. Online, everyone’s saying this is a power struggle within a wealthy family. They’re saying the Menzies‘ eldest grandson led people to surround his own family estate to seize the inheritance.”

Sebastian took the tablet and skimmed through it.

The video had captured blurry silhouettes of their assembled forces. A few frames even caught a side view of him getting out of the car, and a vague image of Noelle.

The comments were full of speculation and ugly rumors.
