She shook her head. Since they were already gone, she didn’t linger in the garden and turned back toward the living room.
As she passed through a bed of blooming roses, she ran straight into Hailey, who was wandering the garden with wide, dazzled
eyes.
Hailey’s gaze was full of amazement. This place was beautiful–too beautiful.
No wonder this was the Guzman Residence. Even the garden alone was stunning.
She looked around nonstop, like a kid in a candy store.
Then-
Her eyes locked onto Noelle’s.
Their gazes collided.
Hailey froze for a beat when she saw Noelle standing in front of her. Then, her eyes flew wide open.
It was as if she’d seen something impossible. Shock and disbelief flooded her face.
“You?!”
Hailey shrieked, pointing at Noelle with a trembling finger. “You bitch! What are you doing here?!”
She scanned Noelle’s simple, comfortable outfit, then glanced around the garden. A smug conclusion formed instantly in her mind, and her face twisted with disdain and mockery.
“Oh–I get it now! Lucas got tired of you, didn’t he? So, you hooked up with the Guzmans and came here to work as a servant? Hahaha! Serves you right!”
“A servant?”
Noelle frowned, looking at her like she was staring at a lunatic,
“Hahaha! Weren’t you so proud last time? Turns out you’re just a servant in the Guzman household!”
Hailey grew more and more pleased with herself. She stepped forward, chin high, jabbing a finger toward Noelle’s face. “Let me tell you–my sister is about to become the future Mrs. Guzman! That makes me family, too! Trashy servants like you–with just one word, I can get you fired and make sure you can’t survive in Kingstowne anymore!”
The more she talked, the more smug she became. Her voice rose sharply, grating in the otherwise quiet garden.
Noelle laughed.
She was laughing at her sheer stupidity.
How was Hailey still this dumb?
But she caught the key detail. “Your sister? Claire?”

“Oh? So you do know!”
Hailey grew even more delighted. Looks like the Guzmans were really satisfied with her sister–so much so that even a servant knew her name!
The servant nearby panicked and hurriedly spoke up, “Ms. Hailey! This is-”
“You don’t need to say anything! This has nothing to do with you!” Hailey cut her off impatiently, still glaring arrogantly at Noelle. “Scared now, huh? You’re just a servant–what are you pretending to be all high and mighty for? Bow and apologize right now. Maybe I’ll be generous enough to let you keep your job and your meals here. Otherwise, I’ll have you fired on the spot!”
“Fire me?”
Noelle truly smiled this time. “You can try.”
Seeing the confrontation about to explode, the servant grew frantic. She stomped her foot and rushed back toward the living
room.
“Mr. Angus! Gentlemen–this is bad! Something’s happened. In the garden, Ms. Hailey and Ms. Kain-”
At the sound of Hailey’s name, Claire’s eyelid twitched.
Wasn’t that idiot supposed to be just wandering in the garden? What did she do now?
At the mention of Noelle’s name, Angus, Jonathan, and the Guzman uncles and cousins all frowned.
“Probably just young girls squabbling. Let’s go take a look,” Angus said, rising first. The others followed. Claire walked at the very back, her heart pounding with dread.
When they reached the garden, they saw Hailey pointing at Noelle’s nose, hurling insults with a domineering, vicious expression.
In an instant-
Everyone’s faces changed.
Jonathan’s eyes turned glacial.
Angus’s brows knitted tightly together.
Several of the Guzman cousins, known for their tempers, darkened immediately.
And Claire–when she saw that the person Hailey was screaming at was Noelle, the very woman she’d met at the restaurant-
All the color drained from her face. Her mind went blank, limbs turning icy cold.
That idiot Hailey-
What on earth is she doing?!
The person she was cursing… was the Guzmans‘ most cherished second daughter!
“It’s her?!” Veronica screamed.
