Chapter 455 Unexpected Encounter
“Alright.” Lucas looked away, his voice calm and unreadable. “Tomorrow, then.”

Only then did Jaylee let go of her suitcase. Lucas pulled her back to the couch, and she sat down again.
A five–million–dollar car.
She quietly did the math in her head. Her fingers were already scrolling through the websites of different luxury car brands.
Porsche felt too common. Maserati matched her style better. Or maybe a Bentley?
A socialite she knew had just picked up a new Bentley last week. She had posted three photos about it on social media.
Jaylee leaned back against the couch. Her posture slowly became graceful again.
Lucas lit a cigarette and looked out the floor–to–ceiling window at the bright city lights. He didn’t say another word.
That small spark Jaylee had–something that once reminded him of Noelle–vanished the moment she asked for a car.
The next day, Noelle stopped by Alliance 749.
She had found the main herb needed for Theodore’s heart condition. His damaged heart veins
could now be treated.
But to be completely safe, she still needed two supporting herbs.
She searched the warehouse for almost two hours before finally finding everything.
Serena poked her head in through the door. A lollipop stuck out of her mouth. “Noey, what was up with those 300 elite guards yesterday? That lineup is so dramatic; I thought you were about to invade Kingstowne.”
Noelle kept her head down as she organized the herbs. “Nothing serious.”
“Nothing serious?” Serena walked over and grabbed Noelle’s cheeks, pulling them gently to the sides. “Wow, my sweet Noey is keeping secrets from me now? You break my heart!”

Noelle pushed her hand away helplessly. “Really, it’s nothing. Just a precaution.”

Serena watched her for two seconds. She knew Noelle’s personality well. If Noelle didn’t want to talk about something, asking more questions would not help. So she shrugged, popped another piece of candy into her mouth, and mumbled, “Fine. Keep your secrets. I worked all day yesterday, so tonight I’m going to a bar. I’ll hire a row of escorts and make them sing Amazing Grace one by one.”
Noelle stared at her in a daze.
“Okay, you go do your thing.”
Serena waved her hand casually and walked away in her high heels, the sound of her steps echoing down the hallway.
Noelle couldn’t help laughing. She shook her head, packed up the herbs, and left Alliance 749.
Just as she stepped outside, her phone buzzed. Lucas had tagged her and Sebastian in their group chat.
“@Noelle @Sebastian Let’s have lunch today. Same place as usual. I want you two to meet someone. Nothing fancy, just a meal.”
Sebastian asked, “Girlfriend?”
Lucas answered, “Yeah. What, only you two get to be happy together? Even a single guy like me deserves a little fun.”
Noelle looked at the screen and suddenly felt a strange sense of relief. Maybe Lucas was finally settling down.
She messaged Sebastian privately.
“He’s really bringing his girlfriend to meet us?”
Sebastian replied quickly. “Yeah. If he’s introducing her to us, it means he probably likes her. 1 heard she’s still in college. Her family is struggling, but she’s tough. She works part–time at a bar to pay for her tuition and her family’s medical bills.”
Noelle raised an eyebrow. From that description, the girl actually sounded pretty decent. She typed back, “Alright then. I should bring a small gift to meet her.”
At least something worth a few hundred thousand dollars.
Diamond Mall.

As soon as Noelle walked in, the mall manager hurried over and greeted her respectfully. “Boss!”
Diamond Mall was the largest and most luxurious mall in Kingstowne. Wealthy families and high–society ladies frequented this mall for shopping, unaware that Alliance 749 actually owned it.
“Go back to your work,” Noelle said, waving her hand. “I’m just picking out a gift.”
The manager immediately stepped away.
Choosing a gift for Lucas’s girlfriend wasn’t easy.
If it were too expensive, it would feel cold. If it were too casual, it would show she didn’t take her seriously.
Noelle walked around the mall twice. At last, she stopped in front of a simple diamond necklace. The design was clean and elegant. The center stone wasn’t large, but the cut was beautiful. It would look bright against the skin without being too flashy.
“I’ll take this one,” Noelle said, pointing to the display.
“Yes, boss!” the shop assistant replied quickly.
She began packing the necklace and preparing the receipt. Shopping at a high–end mall always came with extra steps, so Noelle sat lazily on a small couch and started texting Sebastian.
“I picked the gift for the girl.”
Sebastian replied almost instantly. “Did you pick something for yourself?”
“No. I’m here to buy a gift for her, not for myself.”
She didn’t really need anything.
Sebastian replied again. “No way. If other girls have nice things, my Noey should have them
too.”
