Sebastian looked at Noelle. His lips pressed into a thin line. After a short pause, he said softly, “I’m sorry. I let you get hurt.”

Noelle frowned hard. Hurt? What hurt had she suffered? The one who was truly hurt was Sebastian. This was the first time she had ever seen him get cursed at like that and not fight back at all.

What on earth had his parents done back then?

Noelle felt a wave of regret. In her past life, she only cared about her own family. She never paid attention to Sebastian. She did not even know what had really happened to his parents.

“You’re right, Ms. Guzman,” the manager said quickly, changing his tone when he heard Alina speak up for Noelle.

“But still, it’s surprising that Sebastian dared to come back to Kingstowne. What happened to his parents back then caused such a huge uproar. He was driven out of Kingstowne. If it were anyone else, they wouldn’t dare come back.”

Alina’s voice remained calm. “When his parents were involved in that incident, Sebastian was only ten years old. What could a ten- year–old child possibly understand? To put it simply, he was a victim too.

“His cousin lost both parents, but didn’t Sebastian lose his parents as well?” she continued. “Are you saying he has to spend his whole life living in shame because of his parents‘ mistakes? Hiding away, never achieving anything?”

The manager’s face stiffened.

He had flattered the wrong way again.

“Ms. Guzman, the auction will begin tonight. Are you going over?” He asked quickly, changing the subject.

“Is Mr. Roman still in Riverdale?” Alina asked.

“Yes,” the manager nodded at once. “He’s still there. It seems he’s looking for someone in Riverdale. He’s taking it very seriously. He didn’t even attend this auction.”
