Sebastian still could not stand up, but his body was much better now. Even his legs had regained a tiny bit of feeling. It was only a little, but it was more than enough to make people happy.
With a few more treatments, he would fully recover.
Each medicated bath was extremely painful, so there had to be a one–week gap between sessions. This gave Sebastian time to rest and recover.
After Noelle went out to buy some herbs and came back, Gus greeted her with a smile. “Oh, Mrs. Menzie, you’re finally back!
“Mr. Menzie asked me to tell you that he and Mr. Lucas have booked a private dinner at Summit House tonight and invited you to join them,” Gus said. “He said it’s a reward for helping him detox.”
They had been busy with Sebastian’s condition for a long time and had not gone out for a proper meal. Now it was finally time to relax and gather together.
Noelle did not think too much about it. She went back to her room, put away all the herbs, changed her clothes, and then had the driver take her to Summit House.
Sebastian had a private room reserved on the top floor. A server led her upstairs, and Noelle pushed the door open.
Bang!
A loud burst of party poppers exploded at once. The large private room was full of people. Sebastian was there. Lucas was there. Primo, Duo, Gus, and many others from the house were all there too.
They were standing with light–up signs and streamers in their hands. Everyone’s face was full of smiles.
“Happy birthday, Princess Noey!”
Noelle froze in place. At that moment, she could not hear anything else. All she heard was the sound of the poppers and their voices wishing her a happy birthday.
Her nose stung. Her eyes turned red, and tears gathered, almost falling.
She had completely forgotten that today was her birthday.
She shared the same birthday as Viola. Every year, she only ate Viola’s birthday cake. If Viola was unhappy, she would not even let Noelle show up. Viola would cry loudly and say it was her birthday party, so Noelle was not allowed there. She would also say that it was her home and that Noelle was just an unwanted child.
The Kains always sided with Viola and told Noelle to hurry back to her room.
Noelle would hide alone in her small basement room, curling up in a corner, listening with envy to Viola’s happy laughter outside.
She had been treated like this by the Kains for more than 10 years and never cried. She was already used to it. But now, looking at Sebastian, Lucas, Primo, Duo, Gus, and so many others, the tears she tried so hard to hold back finally fell.
When Sebastian and the others saw her crying, they panicked at once.
“Noelle, don’t cry!” Lucas said in a panic.

“Mrs. Menzie, why are you crying?” Duo hurriedly said. “Is it because Primo’s smile is too ugly and scared you?”
Primo said nothing. He felt that Duo just liked to make fun of him.
Gus also panicked. “Mrs. Menzie, was I too loud just now? Please don’t cry! I’ll speak more quietly!”

Another older maid said bluntly, “You weren’t just loud earlier. You’re still loud now. You talk like you’re shouting. Of course Mrs. Menzie got scared and cried.”
Sebastian looked at Noelle with deep concern. He knew why she was crying. After suffering for so many years at the Kain’s estate, she probably had never had a proper birthday.
Their words finally made Noelle laugh.
She wiped her tears, crying and laughing at the same time. “I’m just so happy–and so touched. I never celebrated my birthday at the Kain’s estate. I didn’t expect you all to celebrate it for me, so I couldn’t hold it in…”
