Fake Heiress True Luna (Irina) novel Chapter 50

Chapter 50: Is The Forest Glowing?

Irina’s POV

The man’s eyes softened as he looked at me-like he was seeing something both sacred and terrifying. “You are what the ancients called an Enigma,” he said finally, the word rolling off his tongue like a prayer.

An icy tremor crawled down my spine. “An… Enigma?” I repeated the word foreign, unreal.” What’s that?”

“You are more powerful than an Alpha, a superior being. What you just did is just the tip of the iceberg,” He explained.

Not really.

Rylan shifted closer to me, still in a defensive stance, his eyes flashing with warning. “The only thing stronger than an Alpha is a king, and we haven’t had one in centuries.”

“Wrong,” The rogue corrected. “An enigma is the strongest in the chain. It is Enigma, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Omega; those are the ranks.”

My mouth hung open. He was telling me I was stronger than an Alpha. Stronger than Aiden or Derek. I… I don’t know if I’m as strong as he says.

“So, you are saying she’s some kind of myth? That’s what this is?”

But the rogue only shook his head, almost pitying. “Not myth. Memory. The last Enigma was born long before our time-and when she died, the balance of the forest shattered. You,” he said, his gaze piercing into me, “carry that same mark.”

I couldn’t breathe. “How can you be so sure?”

“Because,” the man said, stepping closer, voice trembling with conviction, “I was there the night the prophecy was spoken. I saw the signs. The twin moons bled silver, the roots of the forest pulsed like veins, and a newborn cried beneath their light. That sound…” His eyes filled with wonder. “I would never forget it.”

Rylan’s hand brushed my arm. “Irina, we shouldn’t trust them. They could be manipulating you-”

“Would you call the forest a liar, wolf?” the man interrupted sharply. His words made Rylan stiffen. “Because it’s not her power that bends the trees. It’s the forest recognizing its own.”

The air thickened again, charged and alive. The branches rustled, though there was no wind,

the earth beneath my feet humming like a living heartbeat. I wanted to deny it, to push it all away-but deep down, I knew. Whatever had been sleeping inside me was awake now.

I swallowed hard. “If I’m what you say… if I’m Everything.”

jma… then I deserve to know the truth.

The man’s eyes flicked toward the deeper shadows of the forest, where the trees grew impossibly tall, their trunks wreathed in mist. He hesitated before saying, “Then you’ll have to

come with us.”

Rylan’s growl was instant, low, and warning. “Not happening. We came here to find answers. I was told

you wouldn’t attack us, but you did.”

The older man met his glare calmly. “You can come too, wolf. But if she wants answers, they’re not here. They’re where the others dwell-those who remember what the rest of the world chose to forget.”

Silence fell again. I could feel Rylan’s tension like static against my skin, but my heart beat with something different now-an ache for truth. For belonging.

Finally, the man straightened, his weathered face set with purpose. “If you decide to follow,” he said, his voice deepening with authority, “my name is Kratos.”

He turned then, motioning to his people. “And welcome back, Enigma. The forest has been

waiting for you.”

Aiden’s POV

“You’re going to give me a migraine if you keep pacing like that,” Derek muttered from where he was sprawled on the couch, arms folded behind his head, looking far too relaxed for someone who had just helped drag me out of an emotional hurricane.

I ignored him. The floorboards creaked under my boots as I made another pass in front of the window, eyes flicking to the treeline beyond. The forest stretched endlessly-dark, ancient, and quiet. Too quiet.

It had been almost two days since Irina left. Two damn days, and every instinct in me was howling to go after her.

“She could be in danger,” I muttered under my breath.

Derek sighed. “She’s with Rylan. He’s competent enough. You don’t know him, but I do, and he’d die before he let anything happen to her.”

she is stronger and can handle this situation better. She has been training while she was

here.”

I scoffed. “Training for a week is not enough. We have been training for years,” I glanced at Derek. “Sorry, most Alpha heirs train for years; that’s how we can become the strongest in our packs.”

“I also trained since I was a kid,” Derek corrected me. “I may not be an Alpha heir, but rogues are not as animalistic as you all think we are.”

I sighed.

“We shouldn’t get on his nerves. What if Irina decided to stay in his pack?” Arlo questioned, clearly upset that I could risk our visits to our mate.

“I know, I know. Don’t scold me.”

“Look, Derek, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that,” I muttered, rubbing the back of my neck. My wolf was still restless, pacing alongside me in invisible circles, and it mirrored every surge of panic I felt. “I just… I can’t sit here knowing she’s out there, dealing with people I don’t trust. Even if I hate admitting this, you like her, so you don’t feel the same?”

Derek tilted his head. “I do, but if I cut her wings, she will hate me for it. Irina never had freedom in her life, not truly. This is the first time I saw her decide on her own.”

“She was an Alpha’s daughter; she had more freedom than most wolves do,” I pointed out.

He shook his head. “Her life was bound to duty. From what I’ve seen and heard, she wasn’t exactly happy before; she didn’t know any better. Of course, after that Elder conveniently revealed she was an omega, her life was worse.”

“You also think that situation was strange?” I asked.

I may not like Derek because he is after what’s mine, but he may be the only person in the werewolf community who can see how rotten it is.

“Of course it is,” he scoffed. “He found Julie the same day Irina turned eighteen? And how did the people who exchanged her even know when Julie was born?”

“Exactly,” I growled, the pieces fitting together in a way I didn’t like. “Someone planned that switch. Someone wanted Irina out of the way.”

Derek’s smirk faded. “And when she wasn’t useful anymore, they brought back the true heir and made her life a living hell, but does that mean that person knows who she really is?”

I stared at him, jaw tight. “I hope they don’t. I and that would be their last thought.”

then they may be planning to use Irina,

“Do you think the Elder knows?” Derek asked, and I shook

my head.

Elders are after power. If he had known how strong Irina truly was, he would have never done what he did. Or he would have tried to find her later and gain her favor, but he didn’t.

He treated Irina like trash because he felt she took a place that wasn’t hers, but the fact that he wasn’t the man behind this whole plan was more terrifying.

Arlo’s voice pressed into my mind, low and cautious. “You’re thinking about going after her again, aren’t you?”
