Fake Heiress True Luna (Irina) novel Chapter 53

Chapter 53: The Traitor

Irina’s POV

The glow of the forest dimmed slightly as we walked closer to the cabin where Aiden and Derek waited. Kratos walked beside me, silent but watchful, his tall frame cutting through the

faint mist curling between the roots.

Don’t ask me how I knew we had to come here, I just did.

The more we approached them, the more anxious I felt. I could feel Aiden through the bond. How much he had waited for me, and how dumbfounded he was.

“You’re nervous,” Kratos murmured, not looking at me.

I exhaled slowly. “Maybe a little.”

“You shouldn’t be. You carry the forest’s mark now. No Alpha, no council, no power on this earth can command you.”

I gave a faint, humorless laugh. “You don’t know Aiden.”

“I second that!” Rylan chirped from my other side. “Met the dude once and I already hate him.

Kratos arched an eyebrow. “More obnoxious than you are?”

Rylan rolled his eyes. “I’m not obnoxious. Forgive me for being on edge because at least half a dozen rogues surrounded us.”

Kratos smirked, eyes gleaming faintly under the canopy. “You entered my territory without warning.”

“They don’t know when to shut up, do they?” Theia said, almost making me chuckled.

“Irina!” He yelled.

“Aiden,” I breathed before I even saw him.

He came out of the cabin with Derek close behind, both of them moving fast, tension radiating from every line of their bodies. Aiden’s eyes locked on me immediately-and I swear the air shifted.

For a moment, he didn’t move. He just stared.

His jaw clenched, his chest rising and falling too fast, like he couldn’t decide whether to

breathe or roar. I felt it through the bond-a rush of shock, disbelief, and something fierce that burned right into my veins.

And then his gaze flicked past me.

To Kratos.

The air between them crackled.

Aiden’s power rose like a storm, his aura dark and dominant, clashing against the calm, ancient energy that radiated from me.

“Aiden,” I said again, softer this time.

He didn’t look at me. His eyes were locked on Kratos, cold and sharp. “Who the hell are you?”

Kratos didn’t so much as flinch. “The one who kept your mate alive,” he said simply.

A muscle in Aiden’s jaw jumped. “Careful with your words.”

Rylan sighed loudly beside me. “Here we go.”

Derek moved subtly to Aiden’s side, probably to stop him if things escalated, but his own eyes were wide as he glanced at me. “Irina… what happened to you?”

I hesitated. The question was simple, but the answer wasn’t. I wasn’t even sure I fully knew.

“Uh… I’m not an omega?”

The silence that followed was deafening. Rylan looked like he wanted to laugh, I could see him trying to cover his mouth. Derek and Aiden just looked at me dumbfounded, while Kratos had the same blank expression he always did.

I’m not even sure why he is even here.

“The forest happened,” Kratos answered for me, his voice low but carrying. “It recognized her. Claimed her. Irina is an Enigma, the strongest of our kind, the one who will bring balance to this corrupt world.”

“Claimed her?” Aiden’s tone was sharp, dangerous. His eyes shifted, meaning his wolf was in the surface. “What the f**k do you mean by that?!”

Kratos tilted his head slightly, almost amused. “She is stronger than an Alpha, meaning she is free to do whatever she wants.”

For Goddess’s sake, he is taunting him.

faint light of the forest flaring

“Enough,” I said. The word rippled outward like a wa around my feet. Roots shifted beneath the soil, curling like warning serpents.

Aiden froze.

His eyes snapped to me. The glow clinging to my skin, the faint shimmer in my hair, the way the air itself bent slightly toward me-it all registered. His anger faltered.

“Irina,” he said my name like a plea. “What… what are you?”

I swallowed. “As Kratos explained, I’m an Enigma, and according to what they told me, I’m stronger than an Alpha.”

“You are,” Kratos corrected. “You can even change your aura if you want to, you know that.”

Aiden looked confused, his brow furrowed, his chest still rising and falling with barely contained tension.

“You… change your aura?” he finally asked, his voice tight.

Yep, that was one of the things that surprised me the most, when Kratos told me I could do it I almost didn’t believe him.

I nodded, letting the faint silver glow around me pulse stronger, and the forest responded with a soft, harmonic hum that wrapped around us like a living blanket. The light traced the edges of my body, moving with the rhythm of my heartbeat.

Derek’s eyes widened. “Holy-”

I held up a hand, silencing him. “I can pretend to be an omega, that’s what my body did when everything happened in Blue Moon. It did it to protect me, if they had known I had this power buried deep inside me they might have forced me to marry Serim.”

It was a monstruous thought, I didn’t even want to consider it, but Rylan was the one who pointed it out.

He had so little information about me and my past life, but his insight was the most spot on.

Aiden’s jaw clenched so hard I thought his teeth would crack. His eyes-those grey, furious eyes-burned brighter than ever, but this time the fury wasn’t directed at Kratos. It was at the world. At the thought of someone, anyone, even thinking about forcing me into something like that.

I don’t want to say that he wouldn’t have agreed, because to be honest, I’m not sure if he wouldn’t have.

Aiden’s chest heaved as he looked at me. “I-”

“You don’t need to explain anything to me,” I said, it was not the time nor the place for him to apologize.

“But he does need to apologize,” Theia remarked.

I nodded. “Let’s agree that if he apologizes five more times we will forgive him, okay? He kneeled after all.”

Theia hummed in agreement.

“I guess this Serim is a douche as well?” Kratos asked.
