Chapter 55: Whose The Alpha?
Irina’s POV

Derek cleared his throat and held up his phone. I’ve already contacted my Beta; he’ll send all the archives I kept on the Alphas while I was a rogue. If Kratos recognizes the one who worked with Julie, we’ll have another lead.”
“I’m lost,” Ethan commented. “I feel like I’ve missed something.”
“You did, because you were late,” Rylan commented.
“Who’s this?” Ethan asked.
Not again.
“They haven’t learned their lesson,” Theia grumbled. She did not like that other wolves were going against her aura and bickering like little kids.
“Okay, enough!” I ordered, and again, silence was absolute.
“Kratos and Rylan are rogues. Katos is related to the pack Julie came from. He was about to tell us what happened because it turns out her name isn’t even Julie, and she is hiding something greater from us,” I explained.
Kratos glanced at me, clearly not used to someone else explaining his story for him, but he didn’t interrupt. His expression was unreadable, though the faint twitch in his jaw told me he wasn’t thrilled to relive what came next.
Ethan frowned, rubbing the back of his neck. “Okay… so she’s not Julie. Then who the hell is
she?”
Kratos’s eyes hardened. “Her name was Ana. At least, that’s what she told us before she burned everything to the ground.”
That shut everyone up. Even Rylan didn’t dare add a comment this time.
Derek finally spoke, breaking the tense silence. “You said she was with an Alpha. Do you think you recognize someone?”
He gave the phone to Kratos. His finger swiped to the side as he looked at the pictures, until
he stiffened.
His finger stopped moving.

“Is that him?” I asked, and he nodded slowly.
He gulped. “Yeah, that’s him.”
He gave the phone back to Derek, and I watched
ent pale. “You sure?”

Kratos nodded once again. “I won’t forget his face, even if he looks older in that picture, I’m
certain about it.”
“Who is it?” I asked, my curiosity piqued.
Derek was not one to get astonished easily, and if he looked at me with such unease, then it meant that whoever was on the phone must be someone powerful.
“It is not an Alpha,” Derek said, giving the phone to Aiden and me.
The moment my eyes landed on the picture, I froze. He was not an Alpha, and he was certainly not young either.
It was Elder Harden-the same one who brought Julie on my eighteenth birthday.
“Kratos, are you certain he is the Alpha you saw? The one who destroyed your home?” I asked my fingers, which were starting to get numb. This almost made me drop the phone, but thankfully, Aiden was behind me.
“Theia, do you know what’s going on?” I asked my wolf.
Ages and timelines don’t match, and for some reason, I feel like Julie and Elder have more secrets than the ones we just uncovered.
“No, this is very strange. Kratos assures this happened five years ago, but if that were the case, Julie would have been younger, and this Elder would be in his forties.”
I nodded. That was precisely what I was thinking.
Kratos nodded. “As I said before, I would recognize that face anywhere, even if he does look older in this picture. Is this his father or something?”
Everyone exchanged a look.
“This is Elder Austin Harden; he doesn’t have kids, so…”
Kratos paled. “I swear, this is the man I saw during the attack. I’m positive he is the one who helped Ana.”
“Why is he so…” Rylan began asking, but when he saw the picture, he understood. “That old man is the young Alpha?”

n hummed. “I never liked Elders; they act like they are above the law, but you might be
something. I remember that Harden wasn’t like that when I first became Alpha. He was ty decent, but then he became the man you know today.”
en did that happen?”
years after Aiden became Alpha,” Ethan replied this time. “We went to Alpha training, he was there. I swear, he glared at Aiden. He didn’t believe me, but Elder has been hostile e that moment.”
wned, my mind racing. “Two years after you became Alpha… That’s around the same
Julie-Ana-attacked Kratos’s home?”
k’s eyes snapped toward me, realization dawning on his face. “You’re right. The timeline laps almost perfectly.”
os crossed his arms, his expression grim. “Then maybe it wasn’t a coincidence. If that Harden-was the Alpha I saw, he wasn’t just helping her. He became her accomplice. be something happened to him that night. Maybe that’s why he changed.”
n’s gaze darkened. “No, I don’t think that’s what happened.”
dded. “I agree with Aiden.”
en what’s your theory?” Ethan questioned.
I had in mind sent a chill down my spine. If I was right about this…
