Fake Heiress True Luna (Irina) novel Chapter 78

Chapter 2: Finding Cindy

Irina’s POV

Claim

As soon as I stepped into my room inside the pack house, the door closed behind me with a

soft click.

I was so tired of dealing with these games.

I thought they would stop once Arlette died, but it seems they will continue for a while, and my patience was at its limit.

“You could always challenge them,” Theia pointed out, but I shook my head.

“They will die against me.”

“Perhaps they need to see that to respect you,” She countered, but I differed with her opinion.

I didn’t want to rule based on fear.

I wanted the pack members to like me, to think of me as their mother, as their Luna. I didn’t

want to become a tyrant, or for Aiden to be seen as one.

The problem is, many pack members remember what happened during that Alpha Gathering, and the rumors about Aiden hating me from before didn’t help either.

“If I lose it and kill everyone just because they act childish or mean to me, then we will be left without a pack to rule.”

Theia huffed, but didn’t refute my statement.

She knew I was right.

I missed my days in Silver Fang. That was the only pack where I felt at home, even though one omega tried to kill me.

Derek’s love for me made their pack members respect my presence. In Shadow Pack… that would be more complicated.

Even with Aiden’s Pack.

I threw myself on the bed and grabbed a pillow.

I couldn’t go around using my full power, but at least I could scream to calm myself down.

I buried my face into the pillow and let out a scream; thankfully, it was muffled, and after I let

it all out, I felt slightly better.

“Okay, now what do I do?” I asked out loud to nobody in particular.

“If Debbie were here, it would be easier,” Theia grumbled.

I mean…

She isn’t wrong.

Claim

I don’t have friends in the pack; the only one I had left for Derek’s pack a month ago, right after my Luna ceremony.

“We could find Cindy,” She suggested next.

I pushed myself up from the bed, tossing the pillow aside.

That… could be a good idea.

She was kind when I first came here, when everyone thought I was only an omega. But the

problem is, I haven’t seen Cindy anywhere.

Almost like she vanished out of thin air.

“Maids’ quarters?” I asked my wolf, and she nodded.

The problem is, every omega in that place knows my face, and I don’t want Cindy to get bullied because she might befriend me.

I slipped off the bed and straightened the hem of my shirt before stepping toward the door. How are you going to cover your face?” Theia asked.

I smirked. “Just wait and see.”

I went downstairs and out the back door of the pack house. The moment I spotted the cart stacked with freshly washed maid uniforms, my smirk widened. The maid pushing it had her eyes glued to the ground, clearly exhausted after a long shift. Perfect.

I placed a rock in her path.

The maid’s foot caught the rock, and she stumbled with a gasp, the cart wobbling dangerously. I darted forward, steadying both her and the pile of uniforms before they

tumbled.

“Oh-!” she squeaked, eyes lifting, but I hid quickly.

She scratched the back of her head, not understanding what had happened, and I used that

opportunity to sneak from behind and grab a uniform.

I tied a piece of cloth over the lower half of my face, adjusting it so only my eyes remained visible. The uniform pulled at my ribs, but it would do.

I pulled my hair up and tucked it into the cap, hiding every trace of who I was.

“Alright,” I murmured. “Let’s find Cindy.”

I straightened my shoulders and walked toward the maids’ quarters. Thanks to my Enigma nature, I can hide and change my scent, so I can pass as an omega with ease.

I kept my head down, steps soft, scent dampened by a thin veil of power.

Inside the quarters, the smell of detergent, old wood, and too many cramped bodies hit me. Omegas were everywhere-making beds, folding sheets, whispering quietly. A few glanced at me, but their gazes slid past just as quickly.

I’m sure they assumed I was just working.

Cindy, however… wasn’t there.

Hmm… where can she be?

I kept looking around until I remembered that room Aiden used when we were still not on the best of terms to humiliate me.

Nobody went inside, so if Cindy was there, it meant she didn’t want to be seen.

I made my way toward the very end of the corridor-the forgotten little room I’m sure nobody has stepped inside since I was there.

My steps were silent, the floor creaking only once beneath me. The door was cracked open just barely-enough to let a sliver of light spill across the hall. I hesitated, hand hovering near the wood, listening.

There it was. The faintest sound. A shaky breath. A quiet sniffle.

I gently pushed the door with my fingertips and peeked inside.

Cindy was curled up in a tight ball at the corner of the room, knees tucked to her chest, arms wrapped around her legs. Her light brown hair was a tangled mess around her face. Her shoulders were trembling with every shaky inhale, though she was clearly trying hard to stay silent.

My chest squeezed.

“Cindy?” I whispered softly.

Clain

Her head snapped up. Her tear-stained eyes widened, shock flickering across her face when she saw me standing there, half-hidden behind a maid’s mask and cap. She blinked rapidly, as if doubting her own eyes.

“L-Luna?” she said quietly, voice raw from crying.

I stepped inside, quietly closing the door behind me. “Hey,” I said gently, walking toward her. There you are. I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”

She tried to sit straighter, wiping her face with the back of her sleeve in a rushed, embarrassed motion. “Luna… w-what are you doing here?” she whispered. “You shouldn’t… this is- this is the maids’ quarters. You shouldn’t be seen here.”

“I don’t care,” I said calmly, kneeling beside her. “Where have you been? Why are you hiding here? I thought I would see you around once I became Luna, but a week passed, and I never

saw you.”

Her lips tugged into a tiny, weak smile. “I’m fine,” she said. “I just… wanted to rest for a bit. That’s all. They told me to take on other duties, that’s why you haven’t seen me in the pack
