The dinner was a warm-hearted gathering. I sincerely offered toasts to every elder present. The amber mead in my glass was known to gently boost a werewolf’s constitution, yet I still paced myself. After a few glasses, my cheeks started to flush, and a rare sense of relaxation and joy washed over me.

Miranda was clearly in high spirits, pleased that I was fitting in well. “Natalie, didn’t know you could handle your drink so well,” she said, smiling.

Fiona, ever the caring one, chimed in, “Natalie, that’s enough. Don’t go overboard and end up feeling sick later.”

“No, it’s all good,” I replied with a smile. Just then, my phone buzzed. There was Leonardo’s name on the screen. My heart skipped a beat, and I promptly answered.

“Mr. Sanchez, are you done with your stuff?” I asked, involuntary excitement and a hint of dependence in my voice.

There was a brief pause on the other end. Then, Leonardo’s deep voice came through. “You’ve been drinking?” He always seemed to have a sixth sense about my state.

I admitted, my words a bit slurred from the alcohol, “Yeah, I’m here with Mrs. Miranda Sanchez’s family and your grandma. Having a blast, so I had a little. It’d be way better if you were here… This dinner’s amazing. I… I really wish you were by my side.”

As soon as the words left my mouth, I realized what I’d said, and my face burned even hotter.

“Natalie.” Leonardo’s voice took on a more serious tone, with a hint of barely-concealed concern. “It’s too noisy there. Step outside to talk.”

“Okay, hold on,” I said. I motioned to Miranda and Fiona, covered my phone, and stumbled out of the bustling private room.

The corridor was dimly lit, and the thick carpet muffled my footsteps. “Mr. Sanchez, I’m out,” I said as I absentmindedly glanced towards the end of the corridor.

In the pale moonlight seeping through the window, a tall, familiar figure stood still: His silhouette merged with the darkness, except for his piercing green eyes that glowed like emeralds in the gloom, locked firmly

on me.

I stopped dead in my tracks, thinking I was seeing things, due to the alcohol. “Mr. Sanchez… did I see wrong? Felt like I saw you.”

I started walking toward the figure, and at the same time, a soft, exasperated sigh came from the phone in my hand.

“Looks like you’re really plastered,” he said.

His voice from the phone and the deep voice from the figure in front of me overlapped.

I halted again, and my heart skipped a beat. The figure slowly turned around, and there was Leonardo, with his chiseled jaw and drop-dead-gorgeous face.

. “Mr. Sanchez!” I exclaimed.

A wave of surprise crashed over me. I picked up my pace and moved forward. Noticing my unsteady steps, Leonardo instantly stretched out his arms, catching me as I flung myself into his embrace. The fresh piney fragrance on him, blended with a touch of the wear-and-tear of travel, enveloped me in a sense of utter comfort.

“Natalie…” Leonardo breathed out softly. His warm breath caressed my lips, setting my nerves on fire.

I tilted my head upwards, the alcohol having dulled my rational thinking and left me with pure instinct. I looped my arms around his neck, peering into his deep-set eyes, and murmured, “Mr. Sanchez, your voice is just so nice. I could listen to you call me like that all day.”

Under the moonlight, it felt like there was a storm brewing in his eyes. Leonardo gently held my face in his hands, and unable to suppress his surging passion any longer, he lowered his head and pressed his lips against mine.

His kiss was a perfect blend of possessive ardor and tender sweetness. It felt like a jolt of electricity coursing through my veins. I was completely lost in the moment, forgetting to breathe. Suddenly, Leonardo tightened his grip on my waist and spun me around swiftly, pulling me into the shadowy nook on the side of the corridor where we were out of sight.

Landon’s POV:

A call from the go-between informed me that the client for the project I was vying for was dining at the swanky Dome Hotel. Without hesitation, I dashed over.

After sharing a few bottles of high-proof liquor with the client, I was at my limit. My face contorted in discomfort as I staggered out of the private room, covering my mouth.

I was headed for the restroom but took a wrong turn. At the far end of the corridor, I spotted two figures locked in a passionate kiss.

The woman had an alluring silhouette, and there was an uncanny sense of familiarity about her. Could it be Natalie?!

Before I could take a closer look, a hand grabbed my arm from behind.

“Hey, Mr. Richardson! I knew you’d had one too many. The restroom’s this way. Let me show you,” said a business associate who’d also stepped out of the room.

He needed to use the restroom as well, and seeing me in a sorry state, quickly steered me away.
