His voice was a bit hoarse, carrying a nearly stubborn insistence. “Just cherishing you isn’t enough. I want to compensate you doubly for everything you missed and everything you were deprived of in the past.”
His warm palm cupped my cheek, his thumb gently brushing the tears from the corner of my eye-like he wanted to ease all the pain still lingering in my heart.
I tilted my head up, and Leonardo’s kiss naturally descended.
His kiss now was nothing like the gentle one before. It had a near-devout possessiveness, yet he controlled his strength carefully, kissing me deeply and lingeringly, soft with me, seeking my breath and my reaction.
I was kissed until slightly breathless, my mind blank. I could only obediently close my eyes, responding to him with an unskilled yet sincere touch, unconsciously clutching the fabric of his shirtfront.
After a long while, Leonardo pulled back slightly, his forehead still resting against mine, his breathing somewhat heavy.
He said, “Tell me if it hurts or if you feel unwell.
“From now on, you’re not alone. You don’t need to tough anything out by yourself.”
“Natalie.” He took my hand and pressed it against his left chest, over his heart. A steady, powerful beat thudded against my palm. “I want you to consider this the greatest source of confidence in your life.”
“Leonardo…” I felt myself drowning in his tenderness and resolve. I didn’t know how to respond to such depth of feeling. So I just pressed against his cheek, closed my eyes, and soaked in that sense of belonging, like finding something I’d lost long ago.
I had resolved never to touch love again, but Leonardo was the only exception. He was simply too good, so good I lost control. No matter how hard things might get ahead, in that moment, I just wanted to pour out all my honesty recklessly.

The next day, as dawn barely lit the sky, I woke to Leonardo’s soft, dense kisses.
Opening my eyes, I found him already fully dressed, sitting by the bed, and holding my hand. “Get up. I’m taking you somewhere today,” he said.
“Where?” I glanced at the clock on the bedside table. It was only half past six.
I looked up at him curiously. In the morning light, the harsh lines of his profile seemed softened and gentler.
Leonardo’s voice was quiet, but carried an undeniable gravity. “To see my mother.”
I stiffened slightly.

I knew Leonardo’s mother had passed away long ago. It was a deep wound in his heart, one he sel om touched. His sudden suggestion to take me there spoke volumes about its meaning.
I nodded immediately without any hesitation. “Okay.”
Before leaving, I specifically ordered a bouquet of simple, elegant white lilies. I asked about his mother’s preferences, wondering if I should prepare anything else, but Leonardo just held my hand tightly. It’s not necessary. Seeing you will make her happy,” he said gently.
An hour later, the car arrived at the cemetery on the outskirts. The place was tranquil, carrying the unique atmosphere of respect for ancestors and bloodlines common in werewolf packs.
Leonardo was silent the whole way, just holding my hand tightly. I could feel that the closer we got to our destination, the more he withdrew his usual cold aura, revealing a deeply hidden, almost fragile loneliness. I didn’t disturb him, just conveyed my presence through the pressure of my hand holding his.
Leonardo gently placed the bouquet I brought before the headstone, then knelt on one knee, carefully brushing away the morning dew and fine dust from the stone platform with his hand.
The cemetery was quiet, a thin mist hanging like a veil. His straight back looked especially lonely in the cool air, and he moved carefully, as if afraid to disturb the one resting there.
I stood a step behind him quietly, my heart tightening with a sour ache. Now, Leonardo wasn’t the intimidating Alpha leader, but more like a child who had shed all his armor, showing the wounds inside.
