Back on that snowy mountain, when I was barely conscious, leaning on the female werewolf who saved me, the only thing I clearly remembered was the small red mole at the hairline behind her ear.
Later, when I reunited with Aaliyah and mentioned that memory, she shyly admitted it was her and showed me the mole in that exact spot. It was one of our most important tokens.
I immediately turned on all the lights in the room. In the harsh glare, a flash of panic crossed Aaliyah’s face.
“I… I had it removed a long time ago. I told you. Don’t you remember?” she said, trying hard to sound calm.
“Why would you remove it?” I stared at her and was unable to believe it, my voice rising with urgency, “That mole was incredibly special to me.” I had told her before how much I loved that mole behind her ear. It felt precious to me.
“I… I heard that moles in that location bring bad financial luck. With the company going public soon, I thought getting rid of it would give me peace of mind.” Aaliyah looked down, offering a flimsy excuse that even she seemed to find weak.
I looked at her, speechless for a long moment. I felt something sharp pierce a part of my heart. All the surging passion instantly cooled and was replaced by cold disappointment and suspicion.
I turned away, took a box of cigarettes from a drawer, and said wearily, “I’m going to the balcony for a smoke. You should rest.”
“Landon…” Aaliyah tried to say more.
But I didn’t look back. I walked straight to the balcony and locked the glass door behind me. The cold night air brushed against my heated skin, but it couldn’t dispel the frustration and the growing, unsettling feeling inside me.
I couldn’t hold back any longer. I took out my phone and dialed Natalie’s number.
Natalie’s POV:
I had just gotten out of the shower, my wet hair piled up loosely. I was in the kitchen preparing fruit for Leonardo when his familiar scent enveloped me from behind. It was his unique pheromones, cool and captivating like winter cedar. His slightly cool fingertips brushed past my ear, causing a faint shiver.
“Natalie, your mole… It’s lovely.” His voice was low, his lips almost touching the skin on the back of my neck.
:
“Mole? What mole?” His touch made me tilt my head. I didn’t even know I had a mole back there.
“The red one.” Leonardo’s breathing noticeably deepened, his warm breath ghosting over my skin. “It’s in a very hidden spot, but…” He stopped abruptly, with a sense of indescribable restraint.

“But what?” I turned around, wanting to see the emotion in his eyes.

My turning motion threw him off balance. His tall body leaned forward, gently pinning me against the kitchen cabinet behind me. But he reacted quickly, his hand already cushioning the back of my head to prevent a bump. His breath lingered near my cheek. We were eye to eye, and in his eyes, I saw a similarly intense yet restrained light.
His husky voice was mesmerizing. “But it’s very alluring, making it hard to resist wanting a closer look.”
No sooner had he spoken than his warm lips covered mine.
I had no time to respond, only managing a muffled sound before tilting my head back to accept this sudden tenderness. My cheeks flushed rapidly, and a tingling sensation like an electric current spread through my blood. My fingers unconsciously dug into the straight, broad muscles of his back.
Leonardo’s kiss was gentle yet deep. Trapped between his chest and the cabinet, I felt a bit uncomfortable and shifted back slightly. His eyes closed, he simply picked me up, my legs wrapping around his waist. I frowned slightly, my body already going soft. But just as his hand moved under the hem of my shirt, an abrupt phone ringtone sounded.
The phone was right behind me, but I was immobilized by Leonardo, Leonardo showed no sign of stopping either. Yet the ringing was insistent. Someone was calling over and over.
пе
Distracted, I instinctively looked towards the sound. Leonardo reached for the phone first. It was an unknown number. I reached out to hang up, but Leonardo reflexively hit the answer button for me. His gaze turned sharp, a rare hint of impatience crossing his features.
“Natalie, why did you block my number?” Landon’s voice, laced with agitation, intruded abruptly into our
space.
My brow furrowed. I immediately tried to end the call, but Leonardo moved his hand away, preventing me. He looked at me, the warmth in his gaze turning to ice. I was stuck, unable to move. The hand Leonardo had braced beside my ear slowly clenched, his knuckles turning pale.
Landon’s voice came through again. “Natalie? It’s been a while. I… I’ve really missed you.” His voice suddenly softened, carrying a nauseating hint of intimacy even through the speaker.
But these sweet nothings, once so familiar to me, now only made me feel sick.
