Chapter 204 Just You Wait
Natalie’s POV:
“Natalie, are you quite finished?” Samuel’s voice ose to match mine. But I didn’t miss the flicker of apprehension deep in his eyes. He knew I had more on him.
“Apologize,” I said coldly, my chest rising and falling with anger. Today, I would get justice for Lily and crush Samuel’s arrogance completely.
The HR manager looked back and forth between us, opening her mouth before thinking better of it and staying silent.
Lily seemed frightened by the tense standoff. She subtly tugged on my sleeve, her eyes pleading with me to stop. She was afraid of causing trouble for me.
I reached back and grasped her ice-cold hand, squeezing it in support. We couldn’t drop it. Giving an inch today would only make him pus for a mile tomorrow.
Seeing our resolve, Samuel closed his eyes for a second. When he opened them, a strained smile was plastered on his face. A wise man knew when to retreat,
“Fine. I’m sorry,” he said to Lily. But the apology was hollow, more like a humiliating formality.
“An apology requires sincerity,” I stated, not budging an inch. “At the very least, you should know who you’re apologizing to, and it should be something the person can accept.”
I finished speaking and directly took Lily’s hand. “Let’s go. It seems Mr. Scott isn’t going to apologize.”
Lily’s POV:
My hand was enveloped in Natalie’s warm one as she prepared to lead me away. I understood she was making a statement with this action-she would never accept a perfunctory apology.
“Lily.” Samuel’s voice stopped us, forced into an unnatural calm.
I paused.
Samuel closed his eyes, as if steeling himself. He bit his lip, and his voice took on a gentle quality, but a cold undercurrent ran beneath it.
“I’m sorry. What I did before was wrong.” He glanced at Natalie before his complex gaze settled on me. I saw anger, resentment, and something else I couldn’t name in it. “I shouldn’t have harassed you. I shouldn’t have coerced you I sincerely apologize and hope you can forgive me. It won’t happen again.”

Her words grated on my ears. A formality? A suspension? This stain would be on my record forever!
“Are you trying to fire me?” I turned my head sharply, giving her a my head sharply, giving her a smile that didn’t reach my eyes.
She shook her head frantically. “No, of course not.
“The company’s process to fire me would take some time,” I said, my voice soft. I reached out and patted her trembling shoulder. “But you probably won’t need that much time.”
She nearly collapsed on the spot. “I didn’t mean that, Mr. Scott. Actually, I see this as a misunderstanding. You’ve apologized, so the matter is settled.”
“Handle it,” I cut her off. The cold smile I gave her made her scalp crawl.
I turned to leave and murmured, “Natalie! Lily!ust you wait. I’ll get back at you for this humiliation.”
