I finally managed to persuade Anna, at least for the moment, to focus on the summit. But then she started in again-calling Aaliyah and ordering her to go back and take care of Landon.
It was awkward just to listen. Aaliyah was a difficult woman to read, someone even Landon couldn’t handle. Who did Anna think she was, acting like some spoiled princess? Sure enough, Aaliyah hung up without hesitation.
Watching Anna stomp around in anger, I felt nothing. If anything, it annoyed me. Was this really the woman I was supposed to spend my life with? Someone who only knew how to vent her frustrations when the pack was in trouble and never had a single useful idea?
She couldn’t even compare to Natalie.
After dropping Anna off at home, I sat in my car alone for a while. The summit tomorrow was an opportunity for me, too.
Thorn Pack was clearly sinking. I needed to make my move soon.
Aaliyah’s POV:
Back in my private office, I pushed open the door and found the company’s vice chairman, Cameron Parker, waiting inside.
He looked to be in his thirties, tall and well-built, with sun-tanned skin that glowed healthily under the light—a sign of regular werewolf combat training. His eyes were a deep amber, typical of northern packs.
But unlike many domineering Alphas, he carried himself with a calm, refined demeanor, holding most of his edge in check. Despite his high position, he never put on airs.
I liked Cameron. Not just because he recognized my talent and secured all the terms for my entry into the company.
But also because we’d met once before.
Six months ago, at an art exhibition in Maritime City, we’d both been drawn to the same painting.
It depicted children from an orphanage, using wild, imaginative colors to capture their inner loneliness in a unique way.
I was attracted by the unusual palette, but Cameron’s reason was different.

I still remember what he said back then-he liked the painting simply because he had a sister he’d never met.
Years ago, his mother had sent her to an orphanage. Now he was in Maritime City following his mother’s dying wish to find her.
But in a city this big, with no information to go on, it was like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Cameron had come several times with no luck. He happened to be at a friend’s exhibition when he saw this orphanage-themed piece. It stirred something in him, and he wanted to take it home as a keepsake.
His story touched me, so I gladly let him have the painting.
I never thought we’d meet again, and the man I gave the painting to turned out to be the vice chairman of Gallop Energy, Kaelis City’s largest energy corporation.
Cameron came from a prominent family. The Parker family was a diplomatic family turned werewolf-business clan, with deep roots in energy and tech. Gallop Energy held a dominant position in Kaelis City and ranked among the top nationally. Cameron himself moved effortlessly between human and werewolf business circles.
Gallop Energy had recently been planning to set up a branch in Maritime City, though the project wasn’t finalized yet. I originally intended to ask my parents to help me secure a role.
Then I met Cameron.
He was impressed by the thesis and research data I’d submitted, and since both my parents are senior executives at the company, he immediately decided to put me in charge of the branch project. My trip to Kaelis City was to prepare for exactly that.
“Did you need something, Mr. Parker?” I asked softly, maintaining a respectful tone.
“Yes.” Cameron nodded, sliding a plane ticket and some documents across the desk toward me. He tapped the gilded invitation with a finger. “Get ready. We’re going to Maritime City
tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?” I spotted the invitation for the Future Industries International Investment Summit on the desk.
Opening the file, I scanned the list of attending organizations-national industry funds, world- renowned investment banks, giants in energy and pharmaceuticals. And there it was-Maritime City’s famous Scott Group.
My eyes lingered on the Scott Group. Half a year ago, Landon had almost secured an

Cameron said, “Yes. I have a few friends attending. Bring your project proposal. They might be interested. This could be a big opportunity for you.”
It was a rare chance. Cameron was clearly paving the way for me. He didn’t have to go to Maritime City for the summit himself, and he could’ve just sent me. I couldn’t hide my excitement. “Alright, I’ll start preparing right away. Thank you, Mr. Parker!”
Seeing how thrilled I was, a faint smile appeared on Cameron’s face.
