So how could anyone have done something like this to her after she was sent to prison?
Brandon barely had to think about it before rejecting the idea entirely.
It was completely impossible.
As soon as he returned to the Mercer Group, Brandon marched straight into the chairman's office with the dossier. After calling Colin in, he locked the door behind them.
This was a conversation best suited for the privacy of their home, but with everyone currently at the office, he couldn't wait that long.
"Did you actually see Lillian?" Colin asked eagerly. "Did she agree to meet you?"
Brandon's face darkened. "Of course she didn't want to see me. I rented a uniform from a security guard and sneaked in just to get a word with her."
Hearing this, Martin immediately pressed, "Did you manage to negotiate the algorithm shares or a partnership for her project?"
Brandon wanted to admit he never even had the chance to bring it up, but knowing their temperaments, he didn't bother. Instead, he slammed the dossier onto the desk.
"Read this. Before you start demanding things from Lillian, see for yourselves what kind of hell she endured during those two years in prison.
Look at the sins our family committed. Then maybe you'll understand exactly why she hates us so much.
Until we clear this up, you can forget about the algorithm shares or any partnership for the rest of your lives!"
Brandon had returned from his encounter with Lillian completely infuriated, and now he was finally letting it all out.
Colin reached for the file, but Martin was faster, snatching it up immediately.
As Martin opened it, Colin leaned in closely to read over his shoulder.
If she hadn't been so rebellious and stubborn, she would still be the pampered heiress of this family.
What kind of monsters does she think we are? To resort to something so ruthless and cruel?
Sure, the ties were eventually severed because the resentment on both sides boiled over.
But she should use her head! Why on earth would we subject her to such torment given the circumstances back then!"
After Martin pounded the desk, fuming with indignation, Colin immediately raised his hand like he was taking an oath. "I swear, I would never go behind your backs and do something like this to Lillian.
I used to dote on her just as much!"
Brandon simply threw his hands up in the air. "Then who the hell did?"
