They had to admit Lillian was talented, but she couldn't possibly be that powerful, could she?
Bankrupting their corporation just like that?
The Mercers were an established, legacy family. Was this a joke?
Taking them down wouldn't be that easy. Even though the Mercer Group was in bad shape, they were still a long way from total collapse.
Still, Brandon took the initiative and demanded an answer from Lillian. "Lillian, is he telling the truth?"
Lillian's expression remained entirely indifferent. She had zero interest in their petty arguments.
Until Grandmother woke up, she wouldn't make a move anyway.
There was no point in answering him.
She nonchalantly checked her watch and asked, "Weren't you treating me to dinner? Hasn't it reached my scheduled mealtime?"
Behind her, Sienna chimed in, "Yes, Ms. Mercer. It is time for your dinner."
Brandon was seething on the inside, but since Ethan had been the one to issue the threat, he tried to focus on his primary goal for the evening and forcefully swallowed his rage.
Struggling to compose himself, he pasted on a smile and addressed Lillian with careful courtesy.
"Lillian, Colin and I went ahead and ordered all your favorites. Let's eat and talk."
Lillian didn't answer, nor did she make any move to acknowledge him.
Colin immediately signaled the waitstaff to start serving.
A parade of exquisite, gorgeously plated dishes arrived at the table.
Lillian was quite satisfied with her designated mouthpiece. Some things hit entirely differently when Ethan said them instead of her.
If she said it, it would sound like she was accepting their terms and negotiating her return to the family.
But coming from Ethan, the implications were entirely different.
Ethan was an outsider. When the dust settled, Lillian could simply say, I didn't ask for anything, I didn't agree to anything. Whatever you did, you did it on your own.
Brandon absolutely despised Ethan. The man chimed in at the worst moments, and everything he said was infuriating.
But he was Lillian's subordinate and clearly held significant weight at Lillionix.
Even if it killed him, Brandon had to endure it.
In his mind, he was already plotting. The moment Lillionix was absorbed into the Mercer Group, the very first thing he would do was fire this obnoxious loudmouth!
