At the sound of Brandon’s voice, Sabrina’s hand visibly trembled.
It seemed the inevitable had finally arrived; there was truly nowhere left to run.
Sabrina cast a deeply anxious glance at Bella.
"Get the hell out," Bella snapped toward the door.
Hearing Bella’s venomous tone, Brandon’s gaze turned somber for a fraction of a second, but he quickly called out again, "Ms. Ward, running away won't solve anything.
"Since the deed is done and the truth is out, it's best to step up and take responsibility.
"If we handle this now, it remains a private matter dealt with behind closed doors by the family.
"But if Lillian gets upset and decides to escalate this, things could spiral out of control.
"Certain criminal charges will be impossible to dodge.
"I'm not exaggerating—a year or two behind bars easily fits the sentencing guidelines for this.
"Ms. Ward, handling this internally is far better than letting Lillian take it public and strictly by the book, don't you think?"
Inside the room, the mother and daughter heard every single word Brandon said.
Bella opened her mouth, ready to hurl another string of curses.
But Sabrina quickly grabbed her arm to stop her.
"What’s the point of a momentary victory of words if it brings down worse consequences?
"Right now, they have undeniable leverage over us.
"It’s obvious that Martin has no intention of helping me with this either.
"I have to face this on my own.
"Bella, your own situation is precarious right now. We didn't fight our way to where we are today just to throw it all away on a tantrum.
