A promise?
This put Martin in a terrible bind. How could he possibly guarantee that?
He knew perfectly well that his two sons wouldn't listen to a word he said. Lillian was even more rebellious; she would sever ties entirely before compromising for him.
Besides, after everything he had done, Lillian already hated him to the core.
She would never obey his orders. It was completely out of the question, and Martin knew it.
Sabrina stared at him, suddenly letting out a cold scoff. "Anyone can talk big. It's always just words with you, never any action. Martin, I am truly disappointed in you."
"Back then, I fought with everything I had to get a divorce just for you. I didn't care that everyone pointed fingers at me. When people called me the other woman, I swallowed it without complaint."
"And how did you treat me in the end?"
"If I had known it would come to this, why would I have ever gone through all of that?"
"I dragged Bella through hell and back, and what do I have to show for it now? I'm trapped here by my own love for you, suffering willingly."
"You promised me the world, but now you let them trample all over me."
"Your sons and your daughter bully me, and you just watch. You never say a single word in my defense. Martin, I have completely given up on you."
With that, Sabrina lay back down, pulling the covers over herself, completely shutting him out.
