Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1435

Seeking reassurance, Martin nudged her shoulder. "Honey, are you awake? Do you really think Noah listens to you?"

Sabrina murmured sleepily, "What do you mean? Noah is a brilliant, perceptive boy. You just have to reason with him. It's not about him blindly following orders; if he hears a solid argument, he'll accept it."

At face value, her logic sounded flawless.

But in reality...

Where was the actual logic?

Martin had tried reasoning with the boy countless times, and Noah had flat-out ignored him.

His two sons, and even Sebastian himself—were they not reasonable men?

They had lectured the kid until they were blue in the face, yet none of it got through.

"That doesn't make sense. I've tried reasoning with him, and he completely shuts me out.

Forget it. You're coming with me tomorrow. That's final.

But Sabrina, you know how precarious our situation is. We are running out of time. The Mercer Group urgently needs Lillian back.

I know I don't need to spell out the corporate stakes for you. You understand the gravity of this, right?

You know exactly what her return would mean for our family's survival.

You want her back just as much as I do, so we don't have to keep groveling for forgiveness every single day, right?"

Sabrina abruptly sat up, her eyes wide with feigned sincerity. "Of course I want her back! It's the best thing for the Mercer family and for us. Do you honestly think I don't see the big picture?

That's exactly why I'm so desperate to attend this party. If I'm there, I can gently guide Noah and encourage him to bond with his mother."

Martin finally exhaled a long breath and smiled. His fears assuaged, he drifted off to sleep.

Panicking, Brandon dialed Lillian's number. To his surprise, she actually picked up. He hastily explained the situation, stammering out a request for a leave of absence for the day.

Lillian's response was chillingly indifferent. "Understood. It's fine if you're late."

Click. She hung up.

Brandon stared at his phone. "What did she mean by 'It's fine if you're late'?"

Colin scowled. "Brandon, we need to get in our car and tail them right now.

That woman is a massive liability. Who knows what kind of disaster she'll spark.

We have to shadow her every move and make sure she doesn't try anything underhanded. Lillian is going to be there today. We cannot afford a single mistake."

Brandon nodded vigorously. "You're right. Let's go. Move!"
