Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1445

For a child to scream at a frail woman like that, it became abundantly clear that Noah lacked basic manners.

From the very second Eleanor appeared, Martin and Sabrina's hands had instinctively clamped together in sheer terror. They leaned backward, their feet involuntarily inching away from the woman.

God above, who could understand their agony? They had finally thought they were getting a one-day reprieve from their daily kneeling apologies. Today was supposed to be a joyous celebration! Why on earth did Lillian have to drag this harbinger of doom along?

And what if she demanded...

Just as Sebastian was struggling to process the unfolding disaster, Old Mr. Blake and Old Mrs. Blake stepped forward.

Normally, it was incredibly difficult for them to get an audience with Lillian. She was no longer their daughter-in-law, no longer a part of the Blake family, and certainly not someone they could summon at will.

Plus, she was exceptionally busy.

They closely followed the news regarding Lillionix and her various corporate partnerships, knowing full well how packed her schedule was.

"Lillian, you made it."

Old Mrs. Blake stepped up to take Lillian's hand with warm affection.

Lillian returned the smile. Old Mrs. Blake then shifted her gaze to Eleanor. "Your mother is looking much better. It seems she's thriving under your care."

Lillian nodded. "You're looking quite radiant lately yourself, Mrs. Blake."

Old Mrs. Blake sighed softly. "I've let go of the things I needed to let go of, and stopped agonizing over things beyond my control. Life feels a bit lighter, and I suppose it shows."

Beside her, Old Mr. Blake was eager to get a word in. "Lillian, don't just stand out here. I've become quite the fan of yours lately. I've been tracking the progress of your latest tech project. Any chance I can jump the queue and buy a prototype to play around with?"

Lillian let out a soft laugh. "I can't let you jump the queue, of course. But I can certainly gift you one."

The surrounding guests exchanged bewildered glances.

"Sebastian, we'll help take care of Mom. Don't trouble yourself," Brandon offered.

Lillian said nothing, seemingly perfectly content to let her two biological brothers look after their mother.

As Lillian's group moved toward the venue, Ethan Hayes brushed past Sebastian. He leaned in and whispered, at a volume only the two of them could hear, "Is Mr. Blake afraid of scaring the guests, or afraid of scaring himself?"

Sebastian ground his teeth. Endure!

Right now, swallowing his pride was his only option.

Leonard offered a faint smirk, clearly amused by Sebastian's torment.

Sebastian desperately wished he could just cancel the entire gala.

Since he couldn't publicly confront Lillian over her blatant sabotage, he was trapped between burning rage and suffocating impotence.
