Old Mrs. Blake would have gladly handed over everything to have such a perfect daughter-in-law return to their family. She would have emptied her savings, drained her entire nest egg—anything.
Unfortunately, she knew perfectly well that even if they offered the world, Lillian Mercer was never coming back.
Old Mr. Blake sighed. "Do you think if Sebastian had all those assets, he'd be willing to give them to her?"
Old Mrs. Blake knew her son well enough. She shook her head. If Sebastian had a hundred percent to give, he might begrudgingly part with one or two percent, and he would act as though he were bestowing a grand favor. He would never be that generous.
Old Mr. Blake let out another heavy sigh. "He shouldn't even dream about it. Lillian is never looking back. Why would she choose him when she has a spectacular man like Leonard Prescott? Honestly, even I'm sick of looking at him, let alone Lillian."
It was the harsh truth. Even though Sebastian was his own flesh and blood, the old man found him utterly exhausting.
Over at the Blake estate, Sebastian didn't have Lillian's contact info, but his phone was flooded with screenshots of her Social Feed sent by mutual acquaintances. Everyone in their elite circle now knew she was his secret ex-wife. Every time Lillian made a move, eager gossips couldn't wait to shove it in Sebastian's face. They were dying for the drama.
The better Lillian's life got, the more the high-society crowds relished the spectacle. They wanted to know if Sebastian regretted divorcing her for Bella Ward. The anticipation of his remorse was practically a spectator sport.
Looking at the photos, Sebastian correctly guessed that Lillian hadn't bought those properties herself. Not only did she lack the interest in real estate hoarding, but he recognized one of the mansions in the pictures. Years ago, he had tried to purchase that exact estate for his parents, only to find it had already been snapped up. If Lillian had bought it back then, she would have simply gifted it to the elders.
Without a doubt, that massive stack of Title Deeds was a grand gesture from Leonard.
