Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1504

1504 /1624

Sebastian didn't notice the flash of disappointment in Noah's eyes as he delivered his harsh verdict.

After a long silence, Noah finally spoke up. "Is Auntie Bella really as awful as you say? You used to tell me she was amazing, that there was nothing she couldn't do. You said Mom was useless and that Auntie Bella was the best. If she's so great... why do you hate her so much now?"

Sebastian didn't want to dig into his past justifications. Perhaps he had been completely blinded by Bella's manipulations. Or perhaps, back then, Lillian had genuinely seemed useless—a woman who only knew how to stay home and raise a child. What ambitious man would want that?

He couldn't deny Lillian's beauty, but during their secret marriage, he had convinced himself that a beautiful woman was just a liability. In his mind, undeniable beauty was synonymous with restlessness and endless trouble. His own mother, Debbie Harris, had been breathtakingly beautiful in her youth, and look how that turned out. Thus, Lillian's looks had never been a selling point for him. He hadn't wanted a stunning wife; he had wanted a compliant one.

The room grew quiet as Sebastian failed to offer a proper answer.

For once, Noah didn't push the issue. The boy had been dealing with his own disappointment lately, reading endless negative headlines about Bella online. He wasn't the only kid with internet access; his friends saw it too. In the eyes of the public, Bella and her mother were nothing but vicious villains. The scales in Noah's heart were rapidly tipping.

"Forget what I said in the past," Sebastian finally commanded. "From now on, we both need to focus on your mother's virtues. Fixing this family is our top priority. You're a smart boy. You'll help me, won't you?"

Noah looked up, his expression serious. "Dad, people online are saying Mom has a new boyfriend. If she has another baby, will all her stuff still be mine? Will she still leave it to me?"
