Bella let out a dark, cynical chuckle. "She won't. She's got lung cancer—probably from all the chain-smoking and drinking. Her relationship with Sebastian is a dead end. They despise each other. More importantly, that 1.2 billion dollar ransom we demanded? It merely passed through her bank account before Sebastian snatched it right back. That loss broke her. She suffered through the amputation for nothing. Right now, she hates her own son more than anyone else in the world."
Despite Bella's twisted logic, the anxiety gnawing at Sabrina didn't fade. However, the mention of the 1.2 billion dollars made her heart ache with greed. So much money, just slipping through their fingers. If they had secured it, their debt to The Blood-Debt Vultures would be entirely wiped out.
But dwelling on it was pointless. Sebastian was a terrifying adversary.
"Sebastian truly is a monster," Sabrina muttered. "No wonder his own mother hates him. It's a miracle she hasn't dropped dead from the stress of dealing with him. Speaking of which... if she's right next door, maybe I should pay her a visit?"
Bella smirked. "You actually want to see her?"
"Not exactly," Sabrina mused. "But if she voluntarily gave up her hand for money, I'm deeply curious about what's going through her head right now."
