Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1563

It was a Saturday. Their entire goal today was to casually bring up the marriage alliance and gently push Lillian to consider it.

But Lillian's setup...

Was it really appropriate to discuss a romantic alliance in the middle of a dusty industrial lot?

It was a massive headache.

With no other option, they had to push through. After all, Brandon had promised Tristan that in exchange for his help with the new factory, he would support Tristan in pursuing Lillian.

It didn't conflict with their original plan anyway.

Tristan had always been the Mercer family's top choice for her.

But before Brandon could even steer the conversation, Lillian sat down and immediately pivoted the topic back to the factory.

"Is this facility really being shut down?"

Brandon nodded. "Yeah. These legacy operations are becoming obsolete too quickly. If the Mercer Group doesn't find a way to pivot soon, we'll be in serious trouble down the line.

The best move is to transition immediately to protect our market share. That's the only way to stay profitable."

Lillian didn't care about any of that. She had zero interest in the future or development of the Mercer Group.

As far as she was concerned, the Mercer Group was already doomed. Bankruptcy was its only destination.

Perhaps, if Grandmother wished it, Lillian might use a different method to help the company rise from the ashes—but it certainly wouldn't be under the control of the Mercer men.

She would handpick someone competent to run it.

But none of that was the priority right now.

The priority was the dismantled equipment she was currently staring at. Her heart ached for it, and she realized Ethan's suggestion was flawless. She wasn't ready to let it go.

Cutting off Brandon's grandiose speech about the company's bright future, she asked directly, "So what happens to the machinery?

Grandmother poured her blood, sweat, and tears into this. Are you really just throwing it all away?"

Brandon froze. Grandmother?
