Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1568

Seriously, what was Miles's deal?

What exactly did this guy do for a living before today?

Why did he reek of cheap nightclub cologne and desperate pick-me energy?

It was like he was terrified people might forget he was playing the helpless younger guy routine.

Before Lillian could formulate a polite rejection, Ethan had reached his limit with the manipulative sweetness.

He cleared his throat loudly. "Well, the young Mr. Winthrop might not be completely devoid of business sense. Perhaps he just hasn't found his true calling yet."

Lillian glanced at Ethan. She knew her assistant was thoroughly fed up, so she smoothly played along to shift the topic.

Being family friends with the Winthrops was one thing, and doing business with them was another. But letting a Winthrop infiltrate her executive team? Absolutely not.

She refused to drag their messy family politics into Lillionix.

She didn't know what kind of skills Miles actually possessed, but she was entirely certain of one thing: the guy was incredibly dramatic.

And clearly, Ethan hated his guts.

Lillian could tolerate him, but Ethan was her most reliable executive, and she valued his comfort. If her right-hand man clashed this hard with Miles, she was obviously going to side with her own team.

"Oh?" Lillian asked, feigning curiosity. "Where do you think Miles's talents lie, Mr. Hayes?"

Ethan kept a completely straight face. "Running a factory is much too serious of an endeavor. It's perfectly suited for Tristan.

As for Miles... why don't you try opening a nightclub? Or a dive bar? Maybe a loud lounge?

Who knows? You might achieve unexpected success."

Lillian had to bite her lip to stop herself from laughing out loud. Honestly, she entirely agreed. Miles had an undeniable talent for that specific industry.

A flashy, chaotic environment would let him shine, and he'd undoubtedly enjoy himself.

For the first time all afternoon, a genuine smile broke across Tristan's face.
