"Brandon, how could Lillian just walk away like this? We've been in contact so frequently lately. No matter what, we're her family. How could she leave without saying a single word? What are we supposed to do now? What about the Mercer Group? And the factory we're building, the upcoming orders—how are we going to handle all of this?"
Brandon was entirely speechless, his mind buzzing with shock.
He sat there, utterly dumbfounded. Every question Colin threw at him was a grim reality he now had to face head-on.
What would happen to the Mercer Group?
Lillian disappearing like this was far more devastating than an investor pulling out at the last minute.
It wasn't until they were back in the car that Brandon finally found his voice. "How much cash do we have left in the company accounts? Can we last until the factory is fully operational?"
Colin sighed. "You're the Chairman, Brandon. You know our financials better than anyone. There's no way we can stretch it that far. If we could, I'd be laughing in my sleep."
Brandon rubbed his temples, immediately pulling out his phone and dialing a number.
He called Tristan Winthrop.
The moment the call connected, Brandon got straight to the point. "Are you home? Colin and I are heading over right now."
He hung up without waiting for a reply and started the engine, speeding straight toward the Winthrop estate.
The Winthrop family had no idea what had happened. Their partnership was strictly business, and Lillian had delegated all corporate matters to her trusted executives.
She hadn't felt the need to personally report her travel plans to the Winthrops.
Besides, it wasn't as if she were never coming back.
When the Mercer brothers arrived and explained the situation, the Winthrops finally grasped the gravity of it all.
Lillian was already out of the country.
