Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 270

Dr. Smith saw Lillian’s hesitation and guessed what was on her mind.

But the old man was crafty. Since Lillian didn’t say anything, he kept his mouth shut.

What was there to ask?

If someone couldn’t hold it in, they would eventually ask.

With that, Dr. Smith got up and went about his business.

Lillian sat where she was, feeling a sense of loss, and turned to look out the window.

She gazed at the spot where the car had been parked. It was gone now.

Lillian couldn't help but wonder. That car had delivered the medical case for Dr. Smith.

The case contained her medicine.

Where did the medicine come from?

Was it connected to Leonard?

If so, did that car come from where Leonard was?

An idea popped into her head: she could hack into the city’s surveillance system and see where the car went.

But then she realized how ridiculous that was.

She quickly suppressed the thought.

Dr. Smith had said Leonard was fine. She shouldn't overthink it.

She pushed the thoughts away. Dr. Smith had told her to rest and recover properly.

This wasn't the time to dwell on such things.

Instead of worrying about pointless what-ifs, she should be thinking about returning to the company in a couple of days.

Although Victor was keeping an eye on things, she hadn't been there in a while and felt a little anxious.

“Ms. Mercer, are you… going out?”

Lillian said, “It's been a long time since I've been to the office. It's time I went to check on things.”

Ethan was still worried. “But Dr. Smith said that even though your condition has improved, you still need to rest.”

Lillian replied, “I care about my own body more than anyone. Don't worry. Dr. Smith also said that if I feel up to it, I can go back to the office, as long as I don't get too tired.

“I know my limits. I won't overexert myself.”

She said that, but Ethan was still concerned.

Lillian couldn’t begin the second and third stages of her treatment yet.

She needed to be in good health to continue the therapy.

That was the only way for her to recover quickly and not waste all the effort his boss had put in.
