Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 285

One moment his call was hung up on, the next he was watching Lillian and Victor get out of a car.

With them right in front of him, Sebastian realized he had been played.

It wasn’t the first time he’d witnessed Victor’s sharp tongue.

Countless people in the industry had tried to poach Victor, but after he and Lillian had caused a scene at the wedding, most of them had given up.

On one hand, they saw Victor’s loyalty to his company. On the other, they had all witnessed the power of his words.

Not many people could handle that.

Sebastian put out his cigarette and walked straight toward Lillian.

“Lillian.”

Lillian had just gotten out of the car when she saw her ex-husband, the last person she wanted to deal with, walking right up to her.

When Sebastian got a good look at Lillian’s face, he was completely stunned.

This… she had been so seriously ill just a short while ago, looking haggard and so fragile it seemed a gust of wind could blow her away.

How had she suddenly returned to normal?

Lillian was dressed in a stylish gown, her hair and makeup impeccably done.

Her complexion was rosy, and she exuded a certain vibrant charm.

She even looked younger.

Sebastian almost thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. Was he mistaken?

How could he see someone who was practically on her deathbed as youthful, charming, and beautiful?

He even rubbed his eyes in disbelief.

Sebastian’s face darkened. Lillian’s rejection, keeping him at arm’s length, put him in an awkward position.

“Lillian, I know I disappointed you before, but I need to talk to you about something important.

If you want to attend the conference, I can take you inside. You can sit in the VIP section.

Professor Avery is here too. He’s in the VIP lounge right now. I can take you to see him.”

Lillian instantly understood.

So, this was about Professor Avery.

Had the old professor shown her special treatment in front of Sebastian, setting off his sensitive radar?

That seemed unlikely.

Lillian said, “No, thank you. If I want to see him, I’ll contact him myself.”
