Suddenly, Bella's crying intensified, tears streaming down her face.
Seeing this, Sebastian was at a loss for how to comfort her.
He had never been in a position to console a crying woman before.
Other than his mother, no woman had ever cried like this in front of him.
And certainly not this intensely.
Whenever his own mother cried that hard, he never offered any comfort. Since he was a child, he would just stand by and watch her coldly. He had always believed that his mother's tragic fate was no one's fault but her own.
"Is Lillian 'someone else'? Was she lying to me too?"
Sebastian's expression turned serious. "Lillian? What did she tell you?"
"Lillian said that you two are already divorced. She also said you wanted to take her back to the Blake family estate to recover.
"Sebastian, didn't you say you were going to marry me?
"Why did you keep something as huge as your divorce a secret from me?
"You let me believe you were still a married man, and I didn't dare cross any lines."
Didn't dare cross any lines?
That was rich.
She had kissed him at the press conference.
Sebastian suddenly felt the situation was becoming very tricky.
He had never imagined Lillian would tell Bella about this.
Besides, the only people who knew about their divorce were the Mercers and the Blake elders.
If he really married someone else, wouldn't she regret it?
Although a thousand questions swirled in his mind, unable to understand what Lillian gained from this, Bella was crying her eyes out in front of him, and he needed to appease her.
"I was planning to tell you sooner, but as you know, she's sick. She's Noah's mother, after all, and I didn't want to hit her too hard with it. I also wanted her to be able to spend more time with our son in the time she has left, so I asked my parents to take her back to the family estate to be cared for.
"But she didn't appreciate the gesture, so we dropped it.
"As for the divorce, my parents are still quite upset about it, so I haven't planned on announcing it just yet.
"Bella, I promised I would marry you, and I will. Please, stop crying. Trust me, okay?
"I swear I won't break my promise to you.
"It's just that she's so sick right now, I have to manage her feelings and my parents' emotions first.
"Let's just not bring up the wedding for a little while. We can revisit it after some time has passed, alright?"
