Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 426

Celia Bennett gave Lillian a surprised look, not quite understanding what she meant.

She assumed Lillian was referring to work.

Her work was going smoothly, without any hitches or trouble.

Besides, when it came to her work, she was the expert in the field.

Lillian smiled faintly, and Celia Bennett gratefully accepted. "Alright."

After Celia left, Lillian called Emma back in.

"Ms. Ruiz, please arrange for one or two people at the factory to keep an eye on things for Ms. Bennett, anything outside of her work.

I have a feeling she might have some personal troubles following her.

If someone shows up and tries to bully her, I want someone there to protect her immediately.

She's the most valuable asset in my factory right now."

Emma asked, "Personal troubles, Ms. Mercer? What do you mean?"

Lillian replied, "I'm not entirely sure, it's just a gut feeling. Think of it like that time Brandon came to the company looking for me.

In any case, just find two people at the factory and tell them to watch over her and keep her safe."

Emma understood. "Of course, Ms. Mercer. I'll arrange it right away."

Just as she finished speaking, Lillian's phone rang. She glanced at the screen and answered, "Marcus?"

After her initial greeting, Lillian listened to the person on the other end. Once she hung up, she had Emma go downstairs and bring Marcus Parker up.

Lillian's office was temporarily closed to all visitors.

"What was that you said about twenty-five million? A gambling debt? Are you sure?"

Marcus nodded. "That's right, Lillian. I've been keeping an eye on the situation ever since you asked me to investigate the casino.

Lillian said, "Thirty million transferred in under ten minutes? What kind of generous friend does she have? Sebastian is already very magnanimous, covering all her expenses and giving her a multi-million dollar allowance every year to do as she pleases.

Of course, she occasionally racks up some debt, and Sebastian has people take care of it.

But if Sebastian found out about gambling on this scale, he'd probably exile her to the middle of nowhere just to get some peace.

That woman is a lost cause.

Even her own son can't stand her, yet she remains completely oblivious, capable of doing something like this.

There's no need to guess. I think I know where that money came from."

As she spoke, Lillian couldn't help but smile.

Marcus looked at her. "Lillian, how can you smile? She was your former mother-in-law, this is..."

"You said it yourself. *Former* mother-in-law."
