Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 437

Of course, the shattered glass table was also very expensive. But Martin, consumed by rage, was clearly not thinking about the value of the things he was destroying.

“Lillian, you’re coming with me today. I’m taking you to the police station to turn yourself in.”

Lillian didn’t look at him, her eyes still fixed on her mother running around in the back garden.

“Turn myself in? For what? Did I commit a crime? Why would I need to turn myself in?

Shouldn’t you investigate the truth first? You believe everything Sabrina tells you? Martin, for a man of your age, you’re surprisingly naive.

You know I was released, so you must also know the police have no evidence.

Since there’s no proof I harmed your precious wife, what makes you so certain I did?

Has it ever occurred to you that your wife might not be as innocent as she seems? Maybe she staged the whole thing. Who knows what else she might be hiding from you?”

Martin didn’t believe a word of it. “Don’t talk nonsense. You’re trying to drive a wedge between my wife and me, but it won’t work. Sabrina and I have a wonderful relationship. We were about to have a child together, and it’s all your fault, you curse! You killed our baby and made it so Sabrina can never have children again.”

Hearing this, Lillian finally turned to look at Martin.

He talked as if he loved children so much.

Did he really?

He hadn’t even raised Brandon and Colin himself. It was only after they were grown that he brought them into the company to teach them about business.

Now he was acting like he adored children, but he was just a man who only cared about his own pleasure. Even if the child had been born, he probably wouldn’t have bothered to raise it.

The police had arrived quickly.

As it happened, they were the same officers who had taken Lillian into custody before.

Martin’s mind was a mess. When he turned and saw the police, his first instinct wasn’t to worry about the damage he’d caused, but to say, “Officers, thank you for coming. Lillian wants to turn herself in.”

Lillian spoke up. “The only person who should be turning himself in is you. Everything in this greenhouse, including the rare plants, is valued at over fifty million dollars. Mr. Mercer, we will not be settling this privately.”

She then looked at the officers. “Please take him away. My demands are simple: full compensation for the damages, not a penny less, and a public apology. Otherwise, I will pursue this to the fullest extent of the law.”

The officers nodded. “Rest assured, Ms. Mercer, we will handle this according to procedure.”

Martin was aghast. “What did you say? Lillian, I told you to confess, and now you’re trying to get me arrested? Have you lost your mind?”
