Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 440

Lillian glanced at the unknown number on her phone screen and rolled her eyes.

“They certainly work fast,” she muttered.

From her expression alone, Leonard knew what was happening.

“They are fast,” he agreed. “But I’m a bit tired today. Ignore them. Let’s wash up for dinner.”

Lillian helped Leonard up and walked with him to the dining room.

It was a rare day that Leonard felt well enough to come downstairs on his own, so they could eat in the dining room instead of his room.

Since returning home to recuperate, Leonard had noticed that even though he and Lillian hadn't explicitly defined their relationship, they felt closer than ever.

He was completely immersed in the wonderful feeling of a new romance.

His body even seemed to be recovering faster, though Ethan couldn’t bear to watch.

He was sick of their constant public displays of affection, but all he could do was look on. After all, a workhorse like him had no time for a relationship of his own; he could only enjoy their sweet moments from the sidelines.

Lillian silenced her phone and set it aside, then sat down to eat with Leonard.

Since she hadn't blocked unknown numbers, by the time she finished her meal, her phone showed over a hundred missed calls and a long string of text messages.

However, Lillian just gave it a cursory glance and ignored it all. She helped Leonard upstairs for his scheduled check-up.

At the Mercer estate.

Bella got a ride home from work with Sebastian. Although they had decided to move forward with the wedding, they weren't living together yet. With the wedding so close, they were both holding back.

Fuming, she called a friend to pick her up.

With no cars available at the house lately, Bella decided to go out. Forgetting about dinner for the moment, she first went and bought a Rolls-Royce for over seven million dollars, paying in full and even hiring a driver.

She had so much money on hand, why not spend it?

She was about to marry Sebastian. As for the money she owed him, he would surely give her a generous wedding gift before they got married. She could use that to pay him back then.

In the meantime, she could use the money she had now to finally enjoy herself.

She’d never seen so much money in her life!

“Bella, that’s so extravagant!” her friend, Hannah, exclaimed. “Over seven million dollars! You just bought it like it was nothing. You’re really something else.”

Hannah knew Bella’s salary at the company was only one or two million a year. After taxes and other deductions, she probably only took home about a million.
