He had been all set to launch a new PR campaign, even hoping to use this critical moment to pull Lillian back into the Mercer family's fold.
Even if she wouldn't fully rejoin them, he hoped she would at least mend her relationship with him and his brother.
As long as they could restore their relationship, resources from the Lancaster family might flow their way.
But with this move, Lillian had all but destroyed any possibility of reconciliation.
And Brandon had witnessed firsthand just how vicious people online could be.
Lillian's move had completely blocked his path.
The press releases he had prepared were now useless. He had even paid a freelancer good money to write them, and now it was all for nothing.
This thought just made Brandon angrier.
“How did Lillian become like this? She doesn't think about us at all anymore. The trading halt still isn't resolved, and we were just hoping to use this wave to salvage our image a little. By doing this, isn't she just dragging our image through the mud again?”
Brandon’s face was already a mask of fury, and it only grew darker.
“She gave up her shares long ago; she's probably celebrating right now. She's truly drawn a line in the sand with us. Not only is she not helping, she's not even considering our position. She's just kicking us while we're down.
With the Lancaster family protecting her, we can't even go see her. Her phone is off, so we can't even try to talk things over.
Lillian has really burned this bridge. It looks like getting through this is going to be harder and harder.”
As the brothers spoke, another person from the PR department ran in to report.
“Mr. Mercer, after yesterday's livestream, public opinion shifted, but today the tide has turned again. The focus is back on Mrs. Mercer.
“Right, you're right, Brandon. If Lillian won't forgive her, then we'll just keep scheduling livestream apologies.”
The two PR employees in the office exchanged glances. Would this really work?
“Excuse me for interrupting, Mr. Mercers, but don't we need the Chairman and Mrs. Mercer's approval before we decide this? In a situation like this… can you two really make the final call?”
“For the good of the company, Dad won't just blindly protect that woman,” Brandon said. “Yesterday's livestream proved that. Especially now that we can clearly see the apology stream is effective, he definitely won't want to give up an opportunity like this.
The company's stock is still halted. If he doesn't agree, then he can figure out a solution. I'm out of ideas.”
The PR team understood. They immediately went back to prepare the script for the next livestream.
Colin looked at Brandon. “Brandon, should we discuss this with Dad?”
