Seeing Leonard's name made Lillian feel a little better.
She answered the call cheerfully. "What's up? Is everything okay at home?"
Halfridge Villas was now "home" in Lillian's vocabulary. And it was true; it felt like home. Her and Leonard's home, where her grandmother and mother also lived, along with the old staff who had cared for her since she was a child. It had everything. It was the best home.
Leonard spoke for a bit on the other end, and Lillian smiled, replying, "Okay, I'll wait for you to pick me up after work."
After she hung up, Ethan grinned from ear to ear and started to leave her office.
Lillian called out to him. "You came to find me just to share gossip about the Blake and Mercer Groups?"
Ethan shot back, "That's right. Wasn't it interesting? You're not curious?"
Well... she couldn't deny that. Lillian smiled, a silent, mutual understanding passing between them.
As Ethan walked out, he felt a surge of pride. See, he was the gossip king.
He was waiting. Waiting for his grandparents to make a move. He believed they had been against this marriage from the start. Now, with the Mercer family in this state, and with him having cut off some of their lifelines while Bella's mother embarrassed herself on livestreams every day, his grandparents probably couldn't sit still any longer. They would likely have a showdown with him soon and demand he cancel the wedding. As long as they initiated it, he could go along with it and avoid being the one to break things off.
But now, with Bella proposing they go to an auction to buy jewelry, Sebastian didn't know whether to agree or refuse.
Wedding supplies? He suspected Bella just wanted to buy some things for herself.
Seeing Sebastian hesitate, Bella spoke again, her tone tinged with a playful pout. "Sebastian, please come with me. Whatever you like, I'll pay for it. Think of it as my wedding gift to you, how about that?"
