Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 980

The moment Bella laid eyes on Sebastian, a tidal wave of genuine grief and betrayal crashed over her.

Despite everything, she truly loved him.

She had never loved a man the way she loved Sebastian. Growing up with her mother, she had been surrounded by endless strings of men. She was stunning, intelligent, and armed with an elite education.

With those assets, she had been worshipped by men her entire life.

Yet, she had never felt her heart race for anyone the way it did for Sebastian.

Of course, Sebastian was brilliant and powerful—he was the only man truly worthy of her.

Securing that marriage certificate was supposed to be the ultimate proof that she was his equal.

But now, not only was he demanding a divorce, he was violently tearing her out of his company. The blow to Bella's ego was devastating.

Tears spilled down her cheeks as she stared up at him. "Sebastian, we're husband and wife. Do you really have to be this ruthless?

"Years ago, you met me during your overseas exchange and personally recruited me to build the tech division from the ground up.

"Have you gone completely blind to everything I've sacrificed for this company—for you—over the years?

"Yes, the wedding was a disaster, but what about the years we spent together? Does none of that matter to you anymore?

"How can you treat me like this?

"Aside from the business, did we really mean absolutely nothing to each other?"

Sebastian had been radiating fury just moments ago, but seeing Bella looking up at him, her face streaked with tears and stripped of her usual arrogance, his anger cooled into something cold and detached.

He pulled out a chair and sat across from her.

"Mean something?"

"Sebastian!" Bella shrieked, her voice cracking. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

Sebastian's expression remained frigid and entirely unmoved. "How long would you say we've actually been together?"

Bella glared at him, refusing to answer. She already knew where this was going, but hearing it out loud was going to be excruciating.

Sebastian didn't wait for her. "We never slept together, did we?

"You're fully aware of that fact.

"And I know you noticed we never felt like a normal couple.

"You also noticed that right before we signed the marriage papers, I hesitated for a long time about whether I actually wanted to go through with it.

"I'll be honest with you. My parents vehemently opposed us being together. Marrying you was nothing more than an act of rebellion against their control."
