Emilia was still holding the towel she’d used to dry her hair.
She looked at him.
This version of Theodore was very different from his usual self.
The man she usually saw was always impeccably dressed, every detail perfect.
Given that he was in the gemstone business, he often wore some sparkling gems, like gemstone cufflinks, which made him look incredibly distinguished.
But in his loungewear, he seemed gentler, more approachable, and completely harmless.
He even looked younger, like a college student in his early twenties. Paired with his handsome face, it made Emilia stare for a moment.
Theodore smiled when he saw her. “Want some water?”
Emilia snapped back to reality and nodded distractedly.
“Sure,” she mumbled.
They walked over to the water cooler together, and he poured her a glass.
She took it and had a sip.
“Butler Nathan showed you around the house today. Do you like it? Is there anything you want to change?” Theodore’s voice came from beside her.
Emilia thought for a moment and shook her head. “It’s great.”
Then, remembering how happy Bella had been hugging the giant alpaca, and how her room was filled with plush puppies, a puppy-themed bed and quilt, and the new notebook with a cartoon pig, Emilia smiled.
“Bella loves it,” she said. “Especially the big alpaca in the playroom. She didn’t want to get off it today.”
“What about you?” Theodore turned to her, looking down at her. “What’s your favorite part?”
An image of the walk-in closet, where their clothes were now together, flashed in Emilia’s mind.
Her face flushed slightly, and she took another sip of water to hide it.
“The study,” Emilia said. “It’s very well arranged.”
“Hmm…” Theodore seemed to be pondering something.
Emilia didn’t understand what he was thinking and looked up at him.
Theodore looked at Emilia beside him, her scent all around him. He felt her presence so strongly, living with him under the same roof.
This was the scene he had dreamed of for years, the one he longed for in the middle of the night.
Now, finally…
Although she hadn't agreed yet… he thought that one day, she would be willing.
But even so, just having her sit beside him was enough to make him content.
“Emilia, I really… like you so much,” Theodore said softly.
“What?” Emilia looked up in confusion.
She thought she had heard him say something, but with the humming of the hairdryer, she couldn't make it out.
But he just shook his head, smiling as if to say it was nothing.
Soon, her hair was dry.
He turned off the hairdryer, set it aside, took the water glass from her hand, and then he leaned down and kissed her.
