Maybe she never would.
"Then who do you want to have a child with?" Tyler demanded, his suppressed emotions finally exploding.
Emilia was crying hysterically as she shoved him. "Whoever it is, it won't be you."
Tyler's fury intensified, mingled with more complex emotions—unrequited love, hatred, or something else he couldn't comprehend.
"You want to be with Theodore," he said, his chest heaving with the force of his emotions.
"I saw it!"
He roared, "You're living together!"
"You moved in with him!"
Tyler's shouting pushed Emilia over the edge, and she couldn't hold back any longer.
She yelled back, "Who I live with has nothing to do with you!"
"How does it have nothing to do with me!" He grabbed her by the shoulders, shoving her hard onto the bed. "I'm your husband!"
"You're not!" Emilia screamed, heedless of anything else. "We're divorced! We have nothing to do with each other anymore!"
"So you just moved in with him?" Tyler roared.
"Have you two slept together?"
"Have you..." His voice caught for a moment. Then, he seemed to summon all his strength to force the words through his teeth. "Have you... slept with him?"
Tyler was hurting her, and she struggled to get up, but in his rage, he was far too strong. She couldn't move an inch.
"Answer me!" Tyler bellowed.
"That's between him and me!" Emilia shouted. "Tyler, we're divorced. Whether I've been with him or anyone else is none of your business!"
His response was a furious roar. "So you're admitting it?!"
Before Emilia could say anything else, Tyler raised his fist.
She instinctively squeezed her eyes shut.
But the pain she braced for never came.
She opened her eyes to see that he had punched the wall beside her.
Drop. Drop.
