"Yes, sir!" they replied in unison.
Theodore didn't stay. The woman in his arms was still trembling faintly.
He carried Emilia all the way to the car. His assistant, seeing her state, looked alarmed.
"Drive. Back to Glenn Manor," Theodore said coldly.
"Yes, sir!"
Theodore gently placed Emilia on the back seat, as if she were a priceless, fragile treasure he was afraid of breaking.
As soon as she was in the car, she shrank into the corner, curling into a small ball.
Seeing her like that, Theodore's heart broke all over again.
The assistant raised the privacy partition without another glance and started the car.
The car drove off.
Theodore kept murmuring soft words of comfort, but she couldn't stop shaking.
It was incessant.
Theodore took out his phone and sent a message to a doctor.
Her condition was serious. She needed medical attention.
The car soon arrived at Glenn Manor.
It pulled right up to the door of their house, and he carried her inside.
"Mr. Theodore, how is Miss Emilia?" Bella asked, rushing out anxiously.
Theodore shook his head. "Emilia isn't feeling well right now, Bella. Why don't you go play with Wilma for a bit?"
Bella could tell something was wrong and nodded, but her worried eyes followed them.
Theodore carried Emilia to her room and placed her on the bed before unwrapping the sheet.
"Emilia?" Theodore called her name again.
Emilia didn't look up or respond. She just hugged herself, curled into a tight ball.
A searing pain tore through Theodore's heart. He fetched a basin of warm water and a damp towel. "Emilia, I'm going to wipe the blood off, okay?"
