Theodore stood guard just outside the bathroom, his hands clenched into tight fists. The scene he had just witnessed played over and over in his mind.
Hatred flared within him. He took out his phone and sent a message.
His phone buzzed as messages were exchanged back and forth.
A moment later, a knock came at the door.
Theodore looked up to see Wilma standing in the doorway.
“Sir, the doctors have arrived,” Wilma said, casting a worried glance at the bathroom door. “The family doctor and… a psychiatrist are both here.”
Theodore acknowledged her and told her to have them wait somewhere comfortable, then looked anxiously at the bathroom door again.
He remembered the period when she couldn't recognize anyone and paused in thought.
He had been by her side this entire time.
He was worried she would be frightened by the sight of other people.
It was obvious that Tyler had terrified her.
Theodore checked the time. She had been in the bathroom for a very long time.
“Emilia?” Theodore called out.
But there was no response from inside.
Theodore’s brow furrowed slightly as he reached out and knocked on the bathroom door.
“Emilia, are you done in there?” he called out again.
Still, there was no answer.
A terrible feeling washed over him.
He knocked on the bathroom door once more, his voice louder this time. “Emilia, are you alright? I’m coming in.”
After a silent three-count, Theodore opened the bathroom door.
He walked in and was met with a horrifying sight.
She was slumped over the edge of the bathtub, having fainted at some point.
