The nights continued like this for several days.
Many things happened during that time. The concert was the talk of the town, impossible to get tickets for, and The Glenn Group launched its new product, though this time without Emilia at the forefront.
Vivienne had been quiet lately, and no one knew what she was up to.
The three titans of the city had also been laying low. Tyler was spotted only once, but he was in a wheelchair, his leg apparently injured.
Everyone wanted to know what had happened, but the whole affair was kept under tight wraps. No matter who was asked or how the paparazzi tried to get a shot, nothing leaked.
No one knew the truth of what had transpired.
Emilia remained at home, recuperating.
She conducted all her business through online meetings.
With Sophia's treatment and Emilia’s full cooperation, she was getting better day by day.
But every night, she would still jolt awake from her nightmares.
It was as if she were living in two different worlds—one during the day, and another at night.
Although she was consciously aware, it felt as if she was trapped.
And this was a prison she had to break out of on her own.
Fortunately, Theodore was always by her side.
Giving her strength, time and time again.
That night, Emilia woke up with a start once more.
Instinctively, she squeezed her right hand, but this time, unlike all the others, she felt no response.
In an instant, panic set in.
He wasn't there.
In that moment, she couldn't tell if she was truly awake or trapped in yet another layered dream.
Her heart pounded in her chest. Even with the small night light on, she still felt swallowed by darkness.
“Emilia.”
He had been in constant communication with Sophia and the family doctor.
Emilia’s physical scrapes were mostly superficial and had already started to scab over and heal. Only the wounds on her wrists were deeper and would take longer. Otherwise, she was physically fine.
The main problem was what he’d discovered in his talks with Sophia.
The nightmares were a manifestation of how trapped Emilia felt. She needed to find a way to truly break free.
But how to do that was something they still needed to figure out.
“Are you okay?” Theodore cupped her face, his voice filled with concern. “Is something wrong? Do you feel unwell?”
Emilia shook her head. She reached out and gently stroked his face.
“You look exhausted,” Emilia said softly.
Theodore held her hand and gave a small, reassuring smile.
“If you’re so worried, you should let a nurse or a nanny stay with me,” Emilia suggested.
