Chloe was visibly defiant.
She had graduated from an Ivy League university in Cerulion and had managed plenty of projects over the years. How could she possibly not handle them?
Emilia had been at The Erickson Group all these years and hadn't achieved anything noteworthy.
In Chloe's eyes, considering Emilia's past relationship with Tyler and the massive resources of The Erickson Group backing her, the fact that she hadn't made a splash meant she was simply incompetent.
If it were her, the name Chloe Erickson would have resonated throughout Alden City a long time ago!
Reading Chloe's expression, Tyler practically mapped out her exact line of thinking.
He let out a helpless sigh and looked out the window.
It was true that over the years, many of the things Emilia accomplished didn't bear her name.
Most of the credit had been placed on him and The Erickson Group.
This was because, for years, they had been secretly investigating the cause of Inman's death.
As a result, many people viewed Emilia as nothing more than a pretty face or an accessory clinging to his side.
But they both knew the truth. They had supported each other every step of the way, and the sacrifices they had made were equal.
They had mutually agreed that letting the outside world think she was useless would make their investigation much easier.
Once the truth came to light, there would be no harm in bringing everything out into the open.
After all, they were lovers, partners, a married couple—there was no division between them.
But now...
Perhaps she had changed her mind. Perhaps she no longer trusted anyone else and wanted to hold everything in her own hands.
Over the years, they had both changed.
Tyler looked at Chloe, suddenly shifting his stance.
"Chloe," Tyler finally spoke. "If you're dead set on doing this, I won't stop you."
Chloe looked at him in sheer surprise.
Hadn't he just told her to stay away from Emilia?
Holding a champagne flute, she effortlessly glided through the crowd, chatting amicably with the guests.
Every gesture exuded confidence and ease.
She hadn't restricted the guest list tonight. Anyone who wanted to show their support was welcome.
As the event's start time drew closer, the heavyweights began to arrive.
Christian Donovan, Raymond Kaufman, Felix and Joyce all showed up and greeted Emilia.
The rest of the Glenn family had also arrived.
As the hour approached, even more prominent figures made their entrance.
Xenia Lewis signed the guestbook and walked in carrying a massive bouquet of flowers.
Emilia immediately stepped forward to greet her.
"I was too busy during the day to come over, so I brought this for you," Xenia said with a warm smile, handing her the bouquet.
Before Emilia could even say thank you, Xenia opened a small velvet box, revealing a dazzling sapphire necklace.
