Early the next morning, Emilia brought Ray with her to visit the dark horse company, Aegis Dynamics.
As they pulled into the parking lot, Emilia shot a quick text to Theodore.
"I'll be at Aegis Dynamics through noon."
Her new company was located close to The Glenn Group, so Theodore made a habit of dropping by with lunch every day.
Although she had mentioned her plans the night before, she wanted to keep him in the loop.
Because... the place was absolutely swarming with people!
What she assumed would be a quick morning meeting was clearly going to drag on for hours.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Ray stared at the endless line of luxury cars, rubbing her temples in disbelief.
"Why are there so many people?" Ray grumbled, frantically scrolling through her tablet. "I confirmed our appointment with Aegis yesterday!"
Emilia casually scanned the gridlocked parking lot.
"Looks like everyone else booked an appointment too," Emilia noted.
Ray was fuming. "If they don't have the bandwidth to host this many people, they shouldn't have approved the requests! What's the point of dragging everyone out here?"
Emilia smiled at her assistant's frustration.
She had already figured out yesterday that CEO Caleb Lewis was playing a deliberate game.
She just hadn't pieced together his ultimate endgame yet.
"Let's just find a spot to park first," Emilia said.
Ray nodded, and their driver navigated through the chaos to secure a space.
As soon as she stepped out of the car, Emilia spotted a familiar vehicle.
She signaled Ray to wait and walked over.
"...who knows what the hell he's playing at. We booked a private slot, and now it's a goddamn circus!" a familiar voice complained from inside.
Emilia smiled and tapped lightly on the tinted window.
