Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 736

Emilia's brow furrowed. Under the flickering club lights, Owen's expression was a mix of desperation and hope.

When it came to Tyler's closest friend, she had always maintained a strict neutrality—she didn't like him, but she didn't hate him either.

But hearing him beg for Tyler now...

"Owen," Emilia began, carefully choosing her words. "You and Tyler have always been incredibly close. You had a front-row seat to exactly how our marriage fell apart."

"I expect you to take his side. I really do."

"But what I need you to understand is that we crossed the point of no return a long time ago. There is no going back."

Emilia met his gaze, her eyes hard and unflinching.

"Introduce him to someone new," she said flatly. "He'll move on."

Eventually, there would be someone else to walk by his side for the rest of his life.

It just would never be her.

"But he only wants you," Owen pleaded. "He... he has his reasons for what he did."

Emilia let out a hollow, exhausted sigh.

"Maybe he does. I gave him countless chances to explain those reasons to me, and he chose to stay silent."

"And honestly..."

Emilia lowered her eyes, a suffocating wave of despair washing over her.

No matter what his supposed 'reasons' were, they would never bring back her baby.

The baby that had died because her own husband had pushed her down a flight of stairs.

No excuse could ever erase the hell she had been dragged through.

Refusing to let the memories break her, Emilia abruptly turned away. "I have to get back to work. We're done talking about this. Goodbye."

Without giving Owen another second to argue, she practically sprinted down the stairs.

"Wait!" Owen called out, but Emilia was already moving too fast, vanishing around the corner in a heartbeat.

Owen stood alone in the stairwell, feeling completely defeated.

"Owen? Everything good?" one of his buddies asked, walking up and clapping him on the shoulder. "Did you just get dumped?"

Every single person who knew the truth was begging her to walk away.

Dad... what really happened to you?

Emilia closed her eyes, fighting the exhaustion.

Finally, the car pulled up to her corporate headquarters.

Emilia stepped out and rode the elevator straight to the floor where the Dennis Corporation was located.

The second the doors chimed open, she froze in her tracks.

"Theodore?" Emilia stared at the man in front of her, completely stunned.

He was dressed in ultra-casual loungewear. His hair wasn't slicked back into its usual pristine style; it fell softly across his forehead, exactly how he looked when they were relaxing at home. The dressed-down look stripped away his intimidating corporate aura, making him look impossibly warm and approachable.

"Hey," he smiled, stepping toward her.

Emilia fell into step beside him as they walked into the main workspace.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, bewildered. "I texted you..."
