Looking at Theodore in his laid-back clothes, Emilia couldn't help but remember what Ray had blurted out earlier.
A soft laugh escaped her lips.
"What is it?" Theodore asked, looking confused.
"I just realized why Ray had no idea who you were," Emilia teased.
Theodore looked at her, entirely lost.
"Think about it," Emilia said, gesturing to his plain sweater. "Normally, you're decked out in diamond cufflinks, custom gemstone lapel pins, perfectly tailored bespoke suits, and designer dress shoes. You look like the ultimate, intimidating corporate titan. No one expects to see you in sweats."
Even though Theodore had a naturally gentle demeanor, he was always dripping in subtle, astronomical wealth.
It came with the territory of running a global gemstone empire.
Theodore laughed, reaching out to gently pinch her cheek.
Emilia swatted his hand away with a playful glare.
The hours slipped by.
Now dressed in comfortable loungewear and slippers, Emilia dove back into the chaos.
The entire floor was a blur of ringing phones, frantic typing, and high-stakes overseas negotiations.
Theodore seamlessly stepped in to help where he could, the entire team pushing themselves to the absolute limit.
As the sky outside began to turn a hazy gray, the final proposal was locked in.
The exhausted staff had already collapsed onto the folding cots Theodore had brought, dead to the world.
Emilia and Theodore were alone in her office.
She was doing one final read-through of the pitch deck when Theodore quietly slipped into the room and sat beside her.
"Are you exhausted?" he asked softly.
"I'm surviving," Emilia murmured, leaning her head against his shoulder.
Theodore didn't say another word. He just sat there, being a solid, quiet anchor for her.
Emilia finished the last page and tossed the file onto the coffee table.
