254 What he wants.
Once again, I wrapped my arms around my chest and it wasn’t until I did this that I realized that that strange hold he had on me was gone and that I was back to feeling like myself.
I however discarded this thought when I remembered how he’d forced me into coming here with him in the first place. So I asked instead; “What were you wrong about?”
“Like I said earlier, I wish to talk to you,” he answered, “…and I couldn’t wait for you to get home first, seeing how important it is that we talk.”
“Yes.”
“You don’t have to have sex with anyone. Goddess, you could even marry me. We wouldn’t need to consummate our marriage but we’ll mark each other. And that mark alone is enough to stir your lycan awake.”
I rolled my eyes. “I have mates, Darius!” I snapped quickly, but as soon as the words escaped my mouth, I immediately wanted to take them back.
By the time I snapped my eyes open again and lifted sky head to meet his gaze, realized to my absolute confusion that we were now standing in the middle of a half-empty warehouse.
I
He cocked his eyebrows at me.
He suddenly stopped walking and came to stand beside me, and before I could question him to know what he was trying to do, he leaned close and wiped at something under my nose, his forehead creasing into a frown as he whispered under his breath;
My body felt a s light as a feather and…
“Werewolf… Lycan… whatever you are. I figured out a way to awaken whatever the beast inside of you is.” He whispered, and this time, I couldn’t help myself.
“I was wrong!” He cried, causing me to cock my eyebrows at him.
“Is that all?” I cut in, not missing the way his eyes widened slightly before he quickly masked his features into one of cold indifference.
“Stop, Leilani! Do you have a kink for pain?” His voice snapped into my head, pulling me out of the dreary thoughts I was having and I frowned when I noticed the weary look on his face.

And…
“I am not a full Lycan.” I hissed back, interrupting him. But he didn’t even flinch. He didn’t seem like he’d heard me in the first place.
“Is that it?” I snorted irritatedly.
My eyes darted from the bag of pastries in his hands to his face and my breath hitched when he spoke. He said;
My ears perked up and my heart began to race. I even subconsciously leaned towards him and didn’t realize this until I was standing too close to him- so close that his electric warmth enveloped me like a cloak. So close that when he looked down at me, I felt his warm breath tickling my forehead.
Even though I was curious to know what he was talking about, I still couldn’t help but feel cautious around him. Goddess, I’d be a fool if my first thought isn’t to flee from this place right now!
“And what would be in it for you?” I asked coldly, not buying this shit even for one minute.
When did he drop me?
I frowned. “What about?”
“You’re getting me all wrong, Lani,” he drawled in that soothing tone that I found oddly annoying. And when I turned away, he continued;
“How can it be done?”
He shook his head. “No.”
Instead, I continued to pant like a dog in a race as I tried desperately to fight against whatever he was doing to me… but I kept failing and trying… and failing again. “Only for a few minutes. We’ve been walking for a few minutes.. This warehouse is only a few blocks away from the pastry store and you’re standing again because… I didn’t know… well, I thought you were too weak to walk with me but you’re not too weak to stand.” He answered like he was reciting some lines from an old book and I frowned now because I knew that I hadn’t asked those questions out loud.
But nothing in those words made me think fora moment, that that could ever be enough for a man like Darius. He wanted more-that I could tell- and that alone was enough to set me on edge.
He smiled. “Power.” He answered without any filter. “I get the throne. I get to have you

a powerful woman- beside me; And for me, that’s enough.”
Leilani.
So I quickly shook my head and whispered; “Thank you, but no.”
This may sound- well- weird, but standing this close to him made me feel some type of way… it was as though I could feel the way he was feeling… like I could sense the thoughts floating around his head. And bloody Poseidon, they were not innocent. thoughts.
“No?”
But for some strange reason, I didn’t die.
I shuddered and took a step away from him. “low?”
Before I could complain, he picked me up bridal style and continued to walk the rest of the way. And for unknown reasons, as soon as he picked me up, my eyelids began to feel heavy. My heart which has been racing the entire time stopped racing and went back to its usual pace.
He smiled again. “I didn’t say you need to be mated to someone. I said you need to mate with someone. With. And they should be powerful enough to withstand the-‘ “You’re one fiery woman, you know?” He drawled amusingly as if anything about my current predicament was amusing. “You know you should be thanking me for being so thoughtful, but…”
He sighed. “Oh,”
I seethed; “Get out of my head!”
How did we even get here?
As Darius continued to lead me away, my heart raced so much, I feared I would die from shock. Or maybe hypertension or from Hyperventilating!
“Yeah… I also wanted to tell you that I have figured out a way to reawaken your sleeping Lycan.”
“I already know that.”
At my words, he stopped to stare at me for a moment. And as his eyes bored into mine
for a moment too long, I couldn’t help but bristle. He smiled softly and said; “You need to mate with someone.”
