But with them here and me absent, the light in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by disappointment.
His wolf’s dejection was palpable.
Seeing the hope in Caleb’s eyes gradually dim, Jared felt a surge of anger and said sharply,
“Caleb, are you still waiting for Isabella to come? She’s nothing but a heartless ingrate who doesn’t care if you live or die!” His wolf snarled, driven by jealousy and frustration.
He had thought that these words would stir up Caleb’s anger, but Caleb just silently lowered his head, his gaze dim. The figure on the hospital bed looked extremely lonely, obviously still thinking about me. His wolf remained steadfastly loyal.
“Caleb!” Jared punched the wall, burning with anger.
“You secretly gave gifts to Isabella behind Emily’s back. But who’s been staying by your side every day now? It’s Emily! Do you think you’re being fair to Emily, who has been taking care of you in the hospital?”
Jared’s wolf howled its frustration at Caleb’s unwavering devotion.
Caleb stiffened slightly and slowly raised his head.
His gaze fell on Emily, who had just pushed the door open and walked in.
She was holding a thermal lunch box in her hand, with a gentle and well–behaved smile on her face.
But inside, her wolf was seething with anger and wanted to smash the lunch box on the ground.
She still suppressed her inner anger and said softly,
“It’s okay. Everything should be based on Caleb’s mood. Didn’t the doctor say that a good mood will help Caleb recover?”
Her gentle and considerate words and actions made Caleb feel even more distressed and torn. He furrowed his brows, and a hint of apology and guilt flashed in his eyes. His wolf was torn between loyalty and guilt.
Emily noticed the change in Caleb’s expression, forcing a smile despite the bitterness inside, her voice trembling slightly.
“I really don’t mind.”
Suddenly, Alexander stepped forward, wrapping his long arm around Emily’s shoulders.
His wolf asserted dominance, a possessive gesture.
He shot a resentful glance at Caleb. His wolf snarled, its hatred for Caleb evident.
“Since Caleb only has Isabella in his heart, you’ve delivered the soup, so you can go back now.” Alexander said coldly, leaving no room
for argument. His wolf coldly dismissed Emily’s attempt at gaining favor.
When he lowered his head to speak to Emily, his tone softened a bit.
“The International Fashion Design Competition is the day after tomorrow. Emily, is your work ready?”
His wolf was strategically manipulating Emily.
Emily froze.
Without me around, how could she prepare for the competition?

That was why she didn’t want to participate anymore! Judging from what this fool Alexander said, did he get the competition entry?
Hope flashed in Emily’s eyes, and her face was filled with admiration.
Her wolf felt a spark of hope. She asked softly, “Alexander, did you really get the entry?”
