Chapter 189
“I don’t need your help; I’ll rest later,” Caleb said, his voice weak but stubbornly resolute.
His wolf, though exhausted, still held onto his determination.
Jared started to argue when his communicator vibrated–it was Emily.
“Caleb, it’s Emily. Andrew might have made a deal; I’m being released…”
Caleb stopped him, taking a deep breath, opening his laptop again. If he couldn’t use the Miller pack’s Howlnet, he’d use his personal page.
But when he entered his password, it was wrong. All his social media accounts were locked.
His wolf snarled in frustration. He failed me*.
Silence filled the study. His hand trembled; his knuckles were white from clenching his mouse.
He couldn’t keep his promise to Isabella!
Suddenly, he clutched his chest, spitting blood, falling backward, unconscious.
Caleb’s eyes fluttered open to a stark white ceiling. He lifted his hand; an IV was in his arm.
His wolf was weak, its senses dulled by the physical strain.
“Caleb, you’re awake!” Jared sat beside him, bloodshot eyes showing a sleepless night. His wolf offered silent concern.
Caleb tried to speak, but his throat ached. Emily gently offered him warm water, helping him drink.
“You vomited blood and fainted last night; how are you feeling?” Her tone was worried.
“The healer said you fainted from stress; Caleb, you need to rest.”
He looked at Emily, his expression complex. Then, he said, “Thank you, Emily.”
His wolf felt a flicker of gratitude.
“Now you know who truly cares for you, right?”
A cold voice cut through the air.
Andrew stood by the window, regarding him with disdain. His wolf’s alpha scent was strong, heavy with disapproval.
“Andrew, when did you return?” Caleb tried to sit up. Jared helped him.
“Shortly after you fainted,” Andrew said coldly, displeasure evident.
“You do this for Isabella; yet Emily is the one who stayed by your side!”
“Andrew, don’t say that about Isabella,” Caleb clenched his fists, his voice hoarse.
His wolf growled, defending Isabella even in his weakened state.
“We wronged her.”
“Ha,” Andrew sneered.

“How did we wrong her? She ran away, allied herself with Grayson’s pack; and caused this mess, shaming the Millers!”
His wolf’s dominance was clear, its arrogance palpable.
