Chapter 196
I turned, seeing Lucy, smiling brightly. Dropping the decorations, I hurried over and grabbed her paw warmly. “Lucy, why are you here?” My wolf felt a surge of genuine happiness at seeing her.
Lucy’s tension eased seeing my smile and the sparkle in my eyes. I hadn’t been crushed by the negativity.
But then she worried I was bottling it all up, pretending everything was fine. She edged closer, cautiously asking.
“Isabella, did you see those Howlnet posts?”
I blinked, puzzled.“What posts? I’ve been busy all day; I didn’t check my comm–stone.” My tone was relaxed; I seemed unaware. My wolf was calm and unconcerned.
Lucy hesitated, then told me everything.
I remained calm.“I know now; thank you for telling me.”
This worried her even more.
“Isabella, if you’re upset, just tell me,” Lucy said anxiously. Her wolf sensed my unusual calm.
Warmth filled my heart; I was grateful. I held her paw.“I’m really fine.” My tone was calm; my eyes were clear; there was no pretense. I genuinely didn’t care; I’d experienced this before.
In my past life, Emily and my brothers had tormented me until I was moon–cursed and couldn’t design. Emily stole someone else’s work for a contest and got reported. Andrew, to protect her and the family’s reputation, issued a similar statement blaming me for the theft. The Howlnet exploded with hate, calling me a thief and shameless. My depression worsened; I lived in pain and despair, but no one from the Miller family cared. I suffered alone until I died in prison. This time, I had a caring brother and friends. I wouldn’t let them bully me into a tragic end again! My wolf remembered the pain and steeled itself against it.
“So, what are they saying about me online?” I asked curiously.
Lucy, relieved I wasn’t affected, took out her comm–stone to show me Andrew’s statement.
“Huh? It’s gone?” She scrolled, unable to find the statement. She’d been angry and worried about me; she hadn’t noticed it was deleted. Her wolf felt confused.

She looked at me anxiously.“It was there; I’m not making things up.”
I looked at Lucy’s anxiety, then at Grayson, who was working in the dining area. My tone was certain.“Grayson, you had it taken down, didn’t you?” My wolf sensed the truth.
